27,000 People Supported Indian Sisters Who Were Ordered to Get Raped

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is busy transforming India from developing a country to developed country, but first we need to develop our minds. An all-male village council ordered that the 23-year-old and 15-year-old sisters should be raped after their brother had an affair with married women and ran off with her. More than 27,000 people signed the petition to save Indian sisters from being raped.
Meenakshi Kumari, 23, and her 15-year-old sister fled from the village after the order has been made. How can anyone order such punishment? People’s outrage has increased after such insane and heinous order made by a village council. Rachel Alcock, Amnesty UK’s Urgent Action Coordinator, said: "Rape is a revolting crime, not a punishment. It’s no wonder this disgusting ‘sentence’ has provoked global outrage.
The story starts when the Meenakshi’s brother Ravi fell in love with a girl from Jat community, an upper caste and Ravi belongs to a lower caste. In most of the rural areas, there has been an increase in honor killing crimes. The Jat girl was married to another guy, might possible because of pressure, but later on she escaped and moved with Ravi to start new and peaceful.
To take their revenge, a village council decided Ravi's sisters should be raped. Sumit Kumar, another brother of Meenakshi, told Amnesty that “The Jat decision is final." The family is worried that their life would be in danger if they came back to a village. This is the time to fight back and oppose this gruesome and appalling order. Time to stand up and raise your voice against injustice. What you are waiting for, just Sign the Amnesty International petition here.
