IS THE DECISION OF APPEARING CAT ONLY FOR 3 TIMES,RIGHT?

i think it is rite.. as after giving it 1s we get an idea about the exam n we have a better chnace to get mre score then compared to the 1s giving it for the first time...

Its not a good decision there should be more CAT attempts as I think due to reservations and quotas CAT has become more competitive and the attempts limit of CAT should be increased or the number of seats in IIMS should be increased. Due to quotas even after getting good percentage students fail to get into IIMS.
I think limit for CAT attempts should be increased to 5.

ONLY FOR 3 TIMES,RIGHT?

I THINK IT IS PERFECTLLY OK TO HAVE THIS IDEA BECAUSE 3 CHANCES ARE ENOUGH TO CLEAR OTHERWISE IT BECOME DIFFICULT FOR NEW ENTRANTS TO CLEAR

Completely agree with Gurpreet here that the number of the attempts should not be resticted...if the student canot clear these attempts and still wishes a chance then, the IIM CAT authorities should not have a problem.

But one point should not be neglected that, since the number of aspirants is surging ( 20% increase each year ) and it gets tedious for them to manage this huge aspirants base.

So its a good decision in a way...

I would rather say that even 3 is more. Coz MBA / IIMs should not be "Luck by Chance".. rather reward for application knowledge at the right time.

Well I dont think its the right decision..coz restricting the attempts at the time when its damn difficult to crack CAT and moreover the number of students are also increasing and the seats are also few. So it doesnt give a fair chance to even a 98%tile to get admission.

I think its thumbs down.....

BUT THAT IS THE PRECISE REASON THAT THIS SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED..
EVERY YEAR MANY PEOPLE GET ADDED TO THE TOTAL NO. OF PEOPLE GIVING THE CAT..AS THE NUMBER GOES UP..THE COMPETITION INCREASES...THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO KEEP ON APPEARING FOR SEVERAL YEARS..WHICH REALLY BECOMES UNFAIR FOR THE NEW ENTRANTS..

I AM IN TOTAL SUPPORT FOR THIS...

I am in motion in limiting the number of CAT attempts to three as in my opinion, three years are more than enough to come to a decision whether one will be able to do it or not.

Moreover, every year many people repeatedly appear in CAT to boast about. ( Like these preparatory insitutions go on bragging about how their faculties score 99%ile in CAT every year).

Reasonable question is Why IIMs authorities have thought of having attempts for appearing to cat exams?
There is considerable increase in number of people opting for IIMs. It is sought of practice to prepare for CAT once ur in HSC/12th. What about people like me who are working and now want to take break from work and go for full time MBA and want to appear for CAT? I have already attempted twice after 12th and what now? I have only one chance left.!!.
May be IIMs can have some other policy.. such as.. a person can attempt twice in a row and then minimum 3 years gap is required. But then, how will IIMs record all this database?. Will it keep entire CAT aspirants history?
IIMs are also earning hefty amount by selling application forms. If IIMs remove the current applied policy and remove cap on number of attempts, then it will be WIN WIN situation for both. IIM and CAT aspirants… as IIM will earn money and aspirants will have another chance to reappear. Nevertheless. People should know when the last chance will come !!
