Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, in its short existence of 21 years, stands today as a premier B-School, disseminating high quality management education in India. XIMB owes its origin to a “Social Contract” between Government of Orissa and Orissa Jesuits Society. The Institute has always believed in benchmarking its standards against the best B-Schools in India, Asia and the world. The zeal for excellence and commitment holds true to this day, pushing the institute to even greater heights.
Surrounded by renowned business houses and institutions like NALCO, Software Technology Park and Satyam Computers, the verdant 20 acre campus is entirely Wi-Fi enabled. It houses the office complex, 24x7 library, computer centre, classroom complex, Multispecialty Gym, Management Development Centre, CENDERET office complex, auditorium complex, hostels for boys, girls and executives, and a cafeteria. The faculty members stay on campus in the faculty residence. The campus provides the students a good learning atmosphere with a lot of practical exposure. To ensure all round development of the students, it has the facilities of a floodlit basketball court, indoor badminton court, tennis court, volleyball court, gymnasium and a large ground for cricket and football with a jogging track around it. . All these facilities and opportunities which are available in the campus would act as a definite primer for the wholesome development of the students.
The Library houses an excellent collection of books, journals, working papers, audiovisual resources, dissertations, summer projects, annual reports, and bound volumes of periodicals makes the library a learner’s paradise. The e-resources of the XIMB library include EBSCO, ISI, IEEE, Emerging Markets, ACM Digital Library and SANSCO. The library facilities are available throughout the campus through the user friendly LIS.
One can never over emphasis the importance of faculty members in the growth and stature of any institute. With a healthy student faculty ratio of 9:1, almost every faculty knows most students on first name basis. With more than 70% of our faculty being PhD’s we believe that some of the best teaching minds of the country are here. Again with more than two third of our faculty having more than 10 years of teaching experience and about as many with more than 10 years of Industry experience, the students gain a lot from their perspective about the industry as well as about life in general.
XIMB has a rich tradition of pursuing academic excellence, value based education and providing a conductive environment for over all personality development of students. In addition to their excellent teaching the faculty members are actively involved in numerous research and consultancy. A large number of research projects and consultancy have been undertaken, several of them being of national and global importance. The academic programmes offered by XIMB are comprehensive and are continuously being updated to keep pace with latest developments and innovations in associated disciplines with necessary blend of IT and management. It is also undertaking various projects for the upliftment of the community, especially the rural community.
XIMB PROGRAMMES:
XIMB offers three Post Graduate programmes, one doctoral programme and one certificate programme i.e.:
• PGDM: Two year full time programme for Postgraduate diploma in Management
• PGDM(RM): Two year full time programme for Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Management
• PGDM(PT): three Part time programme for Post Graduate diploma in Management ( for working executives)
• PGCBM: One year Part time Postgraduate Certificate Programme in Business Management and
• FPM: Fellow Programme in Management.
PGDM, PGDM (RM), PGDM (PT) and FPM offered by the Institute are approved by the All India council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India. Also XIMB has been awarded the SAQS Accreditation by the Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA). SAQS Accreditation is a quality label which assures that Xavier Institute of Management has in place of continuous quality improvement systems with global business schools in the world. National Academic Recognition Information Centre for the United Kingdom (NARIK UK) recognizes XIMB’s PGDM as comparable to British Master’s degree standard.
There is continuous up gradation and fine tuning of the curriculum to make it more relevant for the corporate environment. We equip the students not just to handle the present needs of the corporate sector but also prepare them to handle their future challenges. Towards this end, the institute has also developed courses jointly with senior executives and institute faculty.
Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar has developed an extensive international network for collaboration with many international business schools. The student exchange programmes as well as faculty exchange programmes provides XIMB with vital international exposure and necessary cross-cultural interactions. We have already entered into formal collaborative arrangements with ten such institutions and are rapidly exploring more similar opportunities with many more.
Tie-ups with foreign institutes supplement our academic offerings substantially. It can add value only when exchange programmes are properly planned and academic inputs are carefully designed to benefit students in particular and society at large. We are continuously looking for tie-ups with various top B-schools of the world to strengthen our pool of faculty and hence collaborative research.
