Working for the Mouse

Till last year this saying was just like any other thought, however now I can proudly say that yes “dreams come true”. Every student wants his or her career’s first step to be memorable. I too had a dream to have the best experience in my internship.

It all started with the struggle to find a place where I can take this big step, destiny made me land at a public sector organization. All my excitement came to an end when they told me that all I have to do is OBSERVE what other employees are doing, that was still fine but what to observe when other employees are not doing anything… I just felt like I am going into darkness and to add on that, you see all your friends with decent internship in giant companies.

OMG I have learned a big lesson but was not ready to pay such a big cost. I did not give up, started from the scratch searching like a dog for a bone. It was such a heavy day tried every possible thing, contacted many people but was dying to hear a positive reply, but the day ended with hopes. I continued my efforts but….disappointed

Just when I was ready to accept my destiny, I got a call saying that you have been offered internship in WALT DISNEY[/b]….for one second this felt like a dream, I literally pinched myself…I wasn’t dreaming…..YEAH, it was WALT DISNEY [/b]one of [/b] the best MNC in the world…WOW!!! My happiness had no boundaries as from childhood I have always been a Disney fan, going to Disney movies, watching the TV show, more than that, the company has a fantastic reputation as whenever you tell someone you work for Disney, you get a smile on their face.

Day 1 at Internship my enthusiasm went to another level when I entered the office I almost felt like entering a new world with my eyes wide open…. merchandise, posters, plush toys all over the place. Then it was the time for some interaction which started with my introduction and followed by them with a small brief about the company, team members and work which I have to do during my internship which then ended with a tagline by the head of the team “Be Happy and Spread Happiness[/b]” Just like Mickey Mouse. .

“Working at Disney has been a really great experience for me, especially due to my interest. I don’t dread waking up early and going to work because to me, it doesn’t really feel like work. It is a very friendly place to work. Everyone here keeps the office happy and welcoming place. During my tenure I was always relieved with pleasant, ready to lend a hand, and friendly colleagues.

Personally, my experience has been beyond amazing! The Walt Disney Company is a New World in itself. Even after the first week, I couldn’t believe I am working with Disney as every day, when I came to office there was a smile on my face which lasted till I left office. Having lunch together, celebrating birthdays, sharing experiences, watching movies, discussing ideas…just made me a part of this family. There is so much I have learned from Disney in the past 2 months that I never would have been able to learn from a textbook, or sitting inside a classroom. I have learned about cultures, values, responsibilities from the team members I interacted with. I was very fortunate to have gotten an excellent work; in fact I was able to work with three teams, and one very exciting special event. Each assignment came up with challenges, learning and experiences. I will never be able to forget some of the amazing people I interacted with who helped me complete my training.

Today I have tears in my eyes as I leave this Disney world…..A magical world where learning was fun. This has been an incredible experience and an amazing opportunity, and I couldn’t think of a better way to have spent my summer!

This personal account vividly captures the emotional rollercoaster of an internship search culminating in a dream opportunity at Walt Disney.

Writing Style and Techniques

The writing is highly emotive, enthusiastic, and follows a classic underdog-to-success narrative arc. It’s designed to be inspiring and relatable, emphasizing the journey from despair to an incredibly fulfilling experience.

  • Emotional Arc and Contrast: The narrative effectively builds tension by starting with disappointment in a previous internship ("All my excitement came to an end when they told me that all I have to do is OBSERVE... when other employees are not doing anything...") before introducing the sudden, joyous turn to Disney. This strong contrast amplifies the sense of triumph.
  • Figurative Language and Idioms: The use of phrases like "searching like a dog for a bone," "eyes wide open," and "happiness had no boundaries" adds vividness and expressiveness to the storytelling. The opening and closing quotes ("dreams come true," "IF YOU CAN DREAM IT YOU CAN DO IT") frame the narrative powerfully.
  • Direct Address and Personal Tone: The consistent use of "I" and direct questions like "what to observe when other employees are not doing anything…" create an intimate, conversational tone that draws the reader in and makes the experience feel personal.
  • Sensory Details and Enthusiasm: Descriptions of the Disney office ("merchandise, posters, plush toys all over the place") and the intern's feelings ("eyes wide open," "smile on my face which lasted till I left office") create a palpable sense of excitement and immersion.
  • Emphasis on Company Culture: The text strongly highlights Disney's positive work environment: "friendly place to work," "happy and welcoming office," "pleasant, ready to lend a hand, and friendly colleagues." The core motto "Be Happy and Spread Happiness" is perfectly integrated and reinforces this image.
  • Hyperbole and Exclamation: The use of "OMG," "WOW!!!", and frequent exclamation marks convey immense excitement and emphasize the extraordinary nature of the Disney opportunity.
  • Metaphorical Language for Learning: Phrases like "New World in itself" and "learning was fun" abstractly convey the profound impact of the experience beyond just professional skills, touching on broader life lessons.

Overall Impression

This is a passionate and engaging narrative that successfully conveys the intern's journey from a frustrating initial experience to a truly magical one. The writing effectively captures the emotional highs and lows, making the ultimate success at Disney feel earned and deeply satisfying. It's a testament to perseverance and the power of finding an environment that aligns with one's personal interests and values. The clear enthusiasm for Disney as a brand and workplace shines through, making it a very positive and inspiring read.
