Women in Corporate

so basically it's good for women to pursue career in corporate world but there a glass ceilling effect that have to be considered...

Hai friends

I think this is not a debatable issue today. Sex can not determine ones ability. Women have already proven their metal. They are already on the lead role in big corporates. ICICI bank has a women on the top. Axis bank hiring a women to lead the organisation. I tried to cite a few from many. I am talking about the ability of the women in corporate and other issues are irrelevant here

the differentiation is not a new thing. this differentiation among the men and women is very old. but still i belive that women can have a better environment for the corporate world. if a women can handle a house in a perfect way then why not a professional environment. and scientifically it is been also proved that women are much stronger in handling stress and pain as compared to male. the are much dominating than male.
all these qualities helps them to secure their position in the corporate world

There is no point in discussing this topic..I would just name one woman to close this discussion.. Indra Nooyi. Need we say anything more?!

hey i think deepak and ashrita both are right in saying that this topic is outdated and hence after acknowledging soo many achievemnets by womens in different scetion of society ......raising this question is itself a big ???????????????????????

lets have some new interesting topics

Have any of you come across 'The Glass Ceiling Effect?'. I came across this 1 NGO called 85 Broads which is the 1st NGO, I presume, to help women break the glass ceiling effect.

How can we use the word corporate if women are not allowed into it. There should not be any differentiation of sex in tghe corporate world and it is really our misfortune that we still discuss on a topic like this. I mean this is always a popular topic of discussion in GDs and Debates. That means women are still discriminated. If women are treated to be the same this topic would died long back.

hiii

Yes women should be allowed to be ontop too... There should be no discrimination between the sects..
We are all born as equals and have the same rights to every position..
Deprivation will only make things worse as this wouldn't be be fair...
Although it is said that it is a man's world... i still stress that anybody can be and make a good leader....:SugarwareZ-235:

they should be in there absolutely. We schould not try harder to get them in though. This form of 'positive discrimination' will only have a negative effect. Women should be treated the same as men, and be jufged on their performance and capabilities.

The role of women worldwide is undergoing a dramatic change. Women today share the podium with men in almost all fields, be it kitchen or in defense. Working women are no longer a rarity and are now accepted as an integral part of the working force. Indian organization has experienced a steady increase in the number of women employees and this pattern is bound to continue in the future as well. Women recently began to join the ranks of managers in large numbers.

Other companies recognise that women do the same work but they have different needs that require be addressing and accommodating at the workplace. Hence, they offer their women employees not only the statutory maternity leave, but other conveniences as well. So, inbuilt in their system are flexible working hours, working from home, allowing women transfers easily (when the husbands move) or even being amenable to women choosing alternate career tracks within the organisation itself.

But women at the top management positions are still a rare species. Globally, they comprise only 10 percent of senior managers in Fortune 500 companies, less than 4% are in the uppermost ranks of CEO, president, executive vice-president and COO and less than 3% of them are top corporate earners. In India too, it is no different. May be the situation is worse.

Therefore women in corporate India are aware of the constraints they work under and obviously try to make the best of the bargain. They typically bear a disproportionate amount of responsibility for home and family and thus have more demands on their time outside the office. And when they do reach the managerial level, they bring with them both silver lining and dark clouds. But they flower, if they are allowed to flower, despite all the obstacles, which are mainly societal and perceptual.

Women managers also have their own inner battles, which need to be fought and overcome. Women need to develop the confidence and appropriate skills and attitudes which are needed to succeed in business. Women manager needs to establish their career goals and acquire determination to overcome the obstacles that exist to keep women from accomplishing their goals.

i think woman are more faithful n trustworthy but simultaneously they r emotional than man in general .so there is a special position for women in say corporate world or say any domain of life.
we should understand basically that in some field they are ahead of us n in some we are.
ultimately it is the understanding between men n women to respect eachothers' mutual leadership in respected fields.and you cant seggregate any field just on basis of gender. every field requires certain aspects n if somebody has it then nothing matters whether one is woman or man ... it's my view else god knows

Well its again more of a similar kind of discussion which is related to - "Man v/s Women" because one may think that men do better @ corporate place or elsewhere.
As rightly mentioned above by Prateek -
why do we differentiate between a Corporate world and other XYZ world......Right to live is wht everybody has got...thats what is not going to change in any WORLD...hence why to have a debate

Women have got full freedom & liberty to do everything they want. Be it any field , women are not lagging men. Please see a related thread on "cats & dogs" in this forum.

Not just managers but the fact is that women rule men as leaders. Its high time now, gone are the days when men were superior in terms of technicality or strategy formulations. Women managers/leaders are no less now. They are more stable, dedicated, less self-centered and more inclined towards company's growth unlike men. Men's self centered approach is their biggest strength & at the same time cause of their weakness.

Yes, why not...women too have been contributing equally, so why not they should be there. In fact, as somebody pointed above, this is not really a new, worthy of discussion question.

hello dear,,,we r living in 21st century n we should think d same way.constitution has given equal rights to all ...so why d discrimination..

act rationally.,
there should be no sex discremination...women should be there in corporate only if they are capable of handling the pressure of it...

women are great organisers. that is how a family runs smoothly. now with the influx of education they have honed themselves in the corporate world too, bringing with them hier skills and intitutiveness.
