Project Background
Women Empowerment Programme started in 2006 as an initiative through Business Support and
Markets Unit to provide business support to women owned businesses. It was initiated to provide
support ski!!s deve!opment and mentorship to women in business. It brings women in business within
e"hekwini Muni#ipa!it$ to network o%%er ski!!s deve!opment guidan#e and mentorship. "he aim o% the
programme is to raise and up!i%t the pro%i!e o% women in business& to provide #ondu#ive and re!evant
business in%ormation and opportunities.

Productivity / Turnaround Strategy
"o provide produ#tivit$ #apa#it$ bui!ding and pro+e#t management training to e-isting businesses whi#h
has been in %u!! operation %or at !east . $ear. "he programme does the diagnosis o% the business o%%er
training and do site visits to ensure e%%e#tive imp!ementation.
Access to Finance (ABSA Implementation Plan)
"o %a#i!itate a##ess to %inan#e through partnership agreement with 'BS' bank. Se!e#tion o% the
/ua!i%$ing SMMEs to be !inked with 'BS' %or mi#ro %inan#ing training networking sessions and
mentorship programme.
