One of my favorite events is on the horizon for Chicago Booth—Women’s Week!* I’ve seen such positive pieces about the improving state of women in the workplace lately; from the success of Sheryl Sandberg’s book encouraging us to “lean in” to the challenges that life and work present to us as women, to a real national discussion about equal pay in the workplace, it’s clear that now is a great time to explore what it means to be a woman in the business world.
To help our female prospective and newly admitted women learn more about what current students and alumnae have done to be successful at Booth and within a competitive marketplace, we* invite you to our most exciting event for women, the annual Chicago Booth Women’s Week.* Now in its ninth year, Women’s Week is the only event of its kind and represents an amazing collaboration between the Office of Full-Time Admissions and the Chicago Women in Business Alumnae Network, or CWIBAN.* Women’s Week events are hosted around the world, from Los Angeles* to New York, from London to Shanghai, by our dedicated and accomplished graduates who are eager to open their homes or host events at local hot spots. These casual receptions offer those pursuing the MBA a chance to attend events specifically designed for women, by the women of Booth.* Depending on your city, some events are intimate, while others are quite large. No matter the size or location, CWIBAN and Admissions plan these events each year to give you a chance to speak to a group of women who have been there, done that, and thrived both as Booth students and in their careers.
The timing of Women’s Week is ideal—many women are just starting their MBA research, and what better way to jump start your deep dive into all that Booth has to offer with a small event hosted by those that have already been there/conquered that?* It’s also a great opportunity to meet others in the same boat, for future celebrations and/or commiserating over the application process!* For those recently admitted to Booth, this is a perfect time to* meet your future Booth network in our alumnae, as well as impart your wisdom to those prospective applicants whose shoes you were in not too long ago.
Interested?* RSVP for an event near you today!* While you’re at it, please place a hold on October 4, 2013 for the annual Booth Women Connect Conference at the Gleacher Center in Chicago.
I look forward to seeing those of you who attend the Chicago or New York events in person!** Be sure to come up and introduce yourself to me.
