Windows 7 (formerly codenamed Blackcomb and then Vienna and now) is a future version of Microsoft Windows. It is expected to be the successor to Windows Vista. Microsoft has confirmed that the planned development time frame is at least three years, putting the release date around 2010 Windows 7 (formerly known as Vienna) is Microsoft's codename for a future version of Microsoft Windows, originally announced in February 2000, but has since been subject to major delays and rescheduling. Microsoft confirmed that Windows 7 is “the internal name for the next version of the Windows Client OS”. And this will be built upon the 7.0 version of the NT Kernel. Since Windows 7 is just a codename and will likely change prior to the OS' official release. Microsoft is currently planning to ship Windows 7 in 2010.
