With the increaing height of competition, generally all the coaching institutes keep themselves the best in providing coaching. So ultimately, whichever one u join, what matters is how u put ur efforts. What u can do is either ask some people who have studied there or are studying there about the institute. That should give u a better idea.
You can write CAT anytime, but ur application will be accepted only if u've completed ur engineering or are in the final year. So, its best to start after the end of ur 5th semester, so that u will be ready for CAT next Nov. In the mean time u could improve ur english, ur reading speed by reading some newspapers, improve ur maths, build some basics necessary for CAT.
Hey i wuld like to knw which is a better coachin institute to prepare for CAT/CET/NMAT/SNAP/XAT.... many of my frnz gave me mixed reactions bout IMS coz of their personal expereinces....

Choice of the coaching institute is not very important. TIME, IMS, CL, etc. are all pretty good and have students bagging seats in the IIMs. They will be able to provide you with sufficient material for a good preparation.
What really matters is how much effort an individual puts in.. However, what you can do is contact some students of an institute, and find out how the teaching is and how the teachers are. So this can give you a fair idea, but more or less, if you put requisite efforts, then you would come out in flying colours.
