<h2>Volkswagen Scandal Leads to Increase in Pollution</h2>
Volkswagen admitted it had cheated in the emissions tests of vehicles in the US, which lead to a free-fall in the car manufacturer’s share price and also the level of pollution has leaped at an enormous rate. They have cheated their consumers and since 2009, they are producing more smog-forming harmful compounds and degrading the beauty of nature.
The Guardian reports that this is equivalent to roughly the same amount of pollution as is emitted by all of the UK's entire industry and agriculture sectors, power stations, and vehicles on the road. Professor Martin Williams of King’s College London told the Guardian that emissions from diesel cars cause roughly 5,800 premature deaths in the UK each year. If you were to make the cars emit at the legal limit you could reduce those deaths by at least a factor of two and maybe more. Maybe a factor of five. He added.
The Environmental Protection Agency has said that Volkswagen has clearly violated the Clean Air Act, and the Department of Justice is considering criminal charges. This scandal has made the laws more stringent. Recently, Swiss authorities have banned the sale of almost 200,000 of the brand’s vehicles. Every good has its own evil, we are moving towards a technological world, but on the cost of nature. We are degrading nature bit by bit leaving paucity of resources for our upcoming generations. Volkswagen has betrayed the trust of the consumer and also destroyed the beauty of nature by polluting it.
