Violence against women

we must encourage women who have suffered abuse to speak out. A life free of violence is their right. We have to break the culture of shame and stigma so that women can share their experiences and concerns.When it comes to violenc within the four walls of the home, even educated and affluent women are reduced to victim status not very different from women who are not so well provided for be it middel poor or any class women are ill treated its only the one who fight back are saved --- we cannot escape by saying high profile word!! truth is they faced it--

Cent % correct.... and that is why i said we must have some social cells... so that ppl can talk, share their exp and try to motivate each other.... :smile:

Well kartik, i think u skipped the news of pramod mahajan beating his wife, although they declared there's nothing wrong in the marriage. It doesnt mean its not prevalent there... it sure is..... and cant say it is less or more...

Well it was never proved that promod mahajan abused his wife. Evn his wife confirmed that the news wasnt true.

Secondly, when people say women need to speak etc etc ... whats not taken into consideration is ... speak where? to the police inspectors in their local cell ? ( we all know how good their reputation is ).

And fr the high profile ones, the press creates a hype even if they are NOT victims, imagine the kind of coverage they would get if they were abused.

I still believe the problem is at the grass roots. Education and employement reforms can turn things around.

yes, no one can prove it... true... but i have seen in real life that it is true...

i meant lady inspectors.... It is very hard for rape victims to speak and not all can... but some do.. and become an inspiration for all.

When it comes to society , the life individuals is worth as much as their income and position.

Even lady inspectors wouldnt entertain a victim from a "slum" fr physical abuse done by her husband. Atleast thats how I see the world around me.
 
i agree kartik low income group women suffer more === thats why tey need to be strenthen up more by education and social upliftment=== besides the mind set of people must be changed===

agreed that's why my views concur with bond's views that we need to strengthen the foundation... i.e. education and opportunities.
 
Women are getting stronger and stronger. With the help of the laws violence will vanish someday....
