Mumbai: Looking to transform youngsters even without higher educational qualifications into job-creators, VES
Institute of Management Studies & Research (VESIMSR) has set up a Centre of Excellence for
Entrepreneurship that would run various innovative initiatives for promoting entrepreneurship.
VESIMSR, the premier management institution in Maharashtra, has tied up with the Union Ministry of MSME
and SME Chamber of India to support the youngsters and working people by imparting knowledge and
practical experience, and become successful entrepreneurs.
The Centre will run special programmes, help incubate the startups, create awareness about entrepreneurship,
facilitate funding, create business plans, hold lectures, and assist in licensing formalities.
“This centre, though set up by a management institute, will be open to all categories of people, whether
housewives or students, working people or small time entrepreneurs who wish to launch business or accelerate
their existing ventures,” said VESIMR director Dr Satish Modh.
“The best part of the initiative is that you don’t need to be a graduate to take assistance from the Centre. Those
without any education can also join our programmes. There is no need of a degree to be successful
entrepreneur,” he added.
VESIMR, run by Vivekanand Education Society (VES), has tied up with professional and government bodies to
promote entrepreneurship. It has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) recently with Small and
Medium Business Development Chamber of India (SME Chamber of India) and the MSME Department.
As the first programme of Centre of Excellence, a weekend programme will be launched from September for
aspiring entrepreneurs. The innovative programme will make sure that by the end of the programme, each
participant owns a business, apart from the managerial and practical lessons on how to run a business and
make money.
SME Chamber of India is the leading National premier Chamber, working for the growth of SMEs from
Manufacturing and Service Sectors for the last 20 years. Chembur-based VESES), founded by Late Shri Hashu
Advani, runs a 26 educational institutions from KG to PG in the vicinity of Chembur, with more than 18,000
students.
Vivekanand Institute of Management Studies & Research (VESIMSR) is known for its value-based education.
It has an intake capacity of 180 each year. VESIMSR offers Mumbai University’s Masters in Management
Studies (MMS) and Doctoral programme. The institute also offers Post -Graduate Diploma in Management
(PGDM) approved by AICTE.

Prof (Dr.) Satish Modh

Dr Satish Modh has wide-ranging interests in the fields of Education
Management, Airline Management, Corporate Strategy, Ethics, Disaster
Management and Hindu Philosophy, which is reflected in his published work.
He has published research papers on strategic management in several
prestigious Indian journals. He has also published books on disaster
management and business ethics.
Dr Modh has over 28 years of experience in the field of aviation. He has worked
with Air India as Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Avionics) and as a senior
executive till 2011 when he took voluntary retirement from service. He was part
of the team which prepared the business plan for Air India MRO and a member
of the business transformation group. He also worked as Executive Assistant to
the Chief Operating Officer and assisted him in day to day operations of the
airline and coordinated functions of operations, engineering, commercial and
training. During this period he was a member of the team to prepare the
'Turnaround Plan' of Air India.
Before joining VESIMSR, Dr. Modh was Associate Dean (Technology
Management) and Professor (Strategy) at NMIMS University from June 2011 to
May 2014.
Dr Modh has held positions as Secretary, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the
Mumbai Branch of the Aeronautical Society of India.
He has also developed a personality indicator based on 'Triguna' concept (Sat,
Rajas and Tamas Guna) of Bhagavad Gita ( www.triguna.org). He has conducted
several workshops on leadership development for NGOs and business
organizations based on this framework.
He is one of the founders and Director of World Hindu Economic Forum. He is
one of the founder and Past President of Centre for International Studies.,
