That's what we call a balanced diet.

Another thing is the link that you provided of Yahoo...
The answer to it is posted by a person who is common like me or you.

So that does not have any value.

See i just told u that link u mentioned earlier is informative but there are things that are mentioned which are wrong.

Please stick to the topic or we might have to BAN people getting personal or we may have to close this thread.

I dont want to do either of it. So lets keep it professional

What are the potential health problems from consuming a vegetarian and vegan diet?

Many people believe that it's not possible to consume all of your necessary nutrients without meat in your diet. Vegetarian diets can be nutritionally balanced, but it will take some planning to do this. Numerous studies have shown that poor meal planning is the cause of nutritional deficiencies in vegetarian diets, not the absence of animal foods. Well-balanced vegetarian diets have been approved for all stages of life, including pregnant and lactating women, children, adolescents, the elderly population, and competitive athletes.

The nutrients for which you are at risk of not getting enough will depend on the foods that you have omitted from your diet. The following are the most common nutrients that may be lacking in a vegetarian diet.

Omega-3 fatty acids

The American Heart Association recommends "consuming fish (particularly fatty fish) at least two times a week." The fat in fish provides the essential omega-3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). The omega-3 supplements and the foods fortified with it have varying amount of EPA and/or DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to slow the progression of atherosclerosis, reduce triglyceride levels, act as an antiinflammatory agent, possibly help with depression and other personality disorders, and possibly thin the blood. There is ongoing research to determine if there are other health benefits.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is attached to the protein in animal foods. There has been considerable research to determine if it is also found in some plant foods. Unfortunately, the B12 that has been found in plant foods can't be used by humans. Supplements that have been made with the plant sources have been shown to contain B12 analogues, compounds that are structurally similar to B12 but do not serve the same function. Research has shown that using supplements with these analogues can actually compete with vitamin B12, inhibit its metabolism, and increase the risk of B12 deficiency, a very serious condition that can lead to anemia and irreversible nerve damage.

Vitamin B12 is found in seafood, dairy, eggs, and meat. Vegan diets have the highest risk of deficiency. There are many foods that are fortified with vitamin B12, so it is possible for vegan diets to contain adequate amounts of this nutrient with or without a supplement.

Calcium

The most well-known source of calcium is dairy foods, which are often omitted or greatly limited in vegetarian diets and are completely omitted in vegan diets. Dairy products provide 70% of the dietary calcium of the U.S. population. The nondairy foods that provide calcium are calcium-fortified tofu, some roots and legumes, and fortified soy milk.

The fat in fish provides the essential omega-3 fatty acids

DISADVANTAGES OF EATING FISH

Allergic reactions: due to fish proteins.
Microbiologic contamination: raw shellfish can cause hepatitis or food poisoning.
Chemical contamination: Many carcinogenic chemicals and pesticides are frequently found in lake fish.
Carcinogenesis: due to rotten fish (free radicals).
Heavy metal poisoning: mercury, iron, copper, zinc or selenium, specially in crustaceous fish or mollusks.
Vitamin overdosing: vitamin A & D.
Monounsaturated fatty acids: gadoleic and cetoleic acids in fish can make heart "fatty"; several other undesirable fatty acids also exist in fish.
Variable quantity of omega-3 acids: fish processing, preservation.
Loss of omega-3 acids during cooking: the vitamin loss during cooking ranges from 10-50%.

DISADVANTAGES OF TAKING FISH OIL SUPPLEMENTS

Missing other essential components.
Incomplete absorption: especially in diseases of fat malabsorption.
Local effects: stomach or intestine irritation or allergic response possible.
Regurgitation: after taste.
Vitamin absorption: reduces absorption of fat soluble vitamins such as E.
Chemical contamination: possibly in a more concentrated form; also, contaminants from the process of manufacturing.
Prolonged bleeding times: interaction for patients on anticoagulant therapy; possible problems in surgery and injuries.
Excessive caloric intake: equivalent calories to other oils; 10 g/day is 36,000 calories per year.

i got dis stuff frm da same site whr u hv got da inf, i think u 4gtd dis.....

@ hemanthreddy

Welcome to the thread.
You being a new comer here please stick to the topic....

Hope u observed KARTHIK'S warning...

@gudipudiswaroop

DISADVANTAGES OF EATING FISH

Allergic reactions: due to fish proteins.

If that is the case it is only found in some people not all...
Like people are alleric to certain fruits and vegetables

If you suffer from pollen allergy or latex allergy, you might experience allergic symptoms when eating certain fruits, vegetables, spices and nuts. This is called cross-reactions.

Lists of foods can be seen from

Allergy To Fruit, Vegetables And Spices | Allergized

Similarly i can justify all the points...

i got dis stuff frm da same site whr u hv got da inf, i think u 4gtd dis.....

The same site also mentioned the advantage of eating fishes which u forgot...

@gudipudiswaroop

Since u moving out of the topic again..

If the topic was India and China...and being a debate i have to speak for China....
I will talk about positives of China....and maybe where India needs improvement but i won't be speaking bad about my country.

And on similar note i will defend Non-vegetarian's as i am one of them and my diet also includes vegetarian stuff.
I have been taught to respect food.

I cannot think in the same line as u do...
Hope we stick to the topic now..

@gudipudiswaroop

U didn't say how can they compare lions to elephants?

I Guess he has not heard about the Blue whale then...
Which is much larger compared to the elephants?
Now thats comparision...

The whole point on debating was just to prove strength you cannot compare animals of differents size's or structure.

So the explanation provided on the site does not has any meaning..
Is the point clear or can we still debate on the same??

veg eggs?? im not sure of it, but i think it will lead to another poll asking ' did hen come first or did a egg come first ' .

NO NEED FOR ANOTHER DISSCUSSION I AM POSTING ARTICLE READ .............
Vegetarian EggsErode (Tamil Nadu), Jan. 4 : If claims of an Erode-based export company in Tamil Nadu, dealing in poultry-based processed products, are to be believed, the vegetarian eggs are all set to become a reality in the domestic market.

SKM Egg Products Limited has branded certain eggs as vegetarian eggs, which are laid by the hens solely fed on a vegetarian diet. The company’s processed egg products range from whole egg powder to yolk powder and albumen powder.

According to SKM Egg Products Ltd., chicks aged up to 8 weeks are brought to their farm and reared on specific feed for 72 weeks that is until they become layers. Since the eggs laid by hens are fed onvegetarian diet, these are termed as veggie eggs. On an average, each layer-hen in a poultry farm lays more than 300 eggs.

"Vegetarian means deriving from vegetable and plant source, and if you can consider milk as vegetarian in India, you can consider those commercial eggs available in markets as vegetarian too. Because they cannot be hatched," said Shivakumar, Managing Director, SKM Egg Products Ltd.

Usually, the poultry feed consists of fish meal (dry fish powder) as a protein supplement. But for the specially reared layers at the poultry farm of SKM EggProducts, the protein is soybeans. Such breed is considered healthy and nutrient rich.

The eggs laid by the hens fed on fishmeal contain antibiotic residues in the limit 0.5 parts per billion, which exceeds the limit, set by European countries. And. as a consequence, the company had to substitute soyabeans for fish powder.

"Normally, the feed contains the fish meal and sometimes they may be using other sources of calcium if you do not use this product fish meal as protein source, and use soya which is available as a source of protein. Then such egg can be termed as not containing ingredients produced from animal source," said Dr. Ravindran, a poultry farm produce expert.

Shivakumar also mentioned that as a part of their marketing strategy, a demand is being created for the vegetarian egg. And this will be highlighted by enlightening the public about poultry hens fed on animal-based feed and how these contain harmful residues and deposits detrimental to human health.

The company is exporting its major products to members of European Union and also Japan where a ban exists on products from layers fed on animal-based poultry feed.

"We do this not because there is demand for vegetarian eggs but we need to comply with developed countries norms for producing egg products where they stipulate that hens must be fed with 100 percent vegetarian diet because animal proteins can cause some residue problems in the processed product," Shivakumar added.

The company has set up its own poultry farm with nearly 1.5 million veggie chicks fed with vegetarian based poultry feed.

It exports 4,800 tonnes of egg powder to almost 27 countries. The company claims to export 65-70 percent of egg powder, making it largest poultry produce exporter in the country.

Set up by SKM Animal Feeds and Foods India Set up in 1996 with the assistance of Tamil Nadu Industries Development Corporation (TIDCO), the company’s annual turnover stood at 8.45 crore during financial year 2006-07. (ANI)

I see the debate has taken quite an interesting turn. Anyway, I trust no one is interested in my views, so I'll just stick to requesting shrey420 to use normal-size fonts - please, Mr. Shrey? The huge fonts really give the impression that you're shouting at the top of your voice.
Pretty please with fluttering lashes and all that.

Aside to Raiv88: Keep up the good fight.
