The Uttar Pradesh Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Government to select those eligible aspirants who wish to pursue a post graduation degree in Medicine. It’s held alternatively each year by universities of UP.

Structure and Syllabus of UPPGMEE

The examination is conducted in English language with multiple choice questions. The paper will have 200 questions of 4 marks each partially dealing with Pre and Para clinical subjects and the other half of the questions dealing with clinical subjects. This entrance exam is different from the others as the MCQ questions come in 4 forms. They are:

100 questions with 4 options of which 1 will be the right answer
50 questions with 5 options of which 1 will be the right answer
40 questions with 5 options of which 2 will be the best options for the answer.
5 questions following a paragraph with 4 options each of which 1 will be the correct answer.10 such questions are expected for 2 paragraphs.
The best response for certain questions will be verified and determined by the Board of Examiners of UPPGMEE and it will be final. Negative marking scheme for wrong answers is not followed by the exam. The answer key would be released after declaring the results.

50% of the questions will have average difficulty and the remaining will be of difficult and highly difficult standards each having 25 questions.

The UPPGMEE follows the syllabus of MBBS/BDS courses provided and recognized by the Medical/Dental council of India. The candidates had better go through all the subjects in their Bachelor’s degree course as well.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in post graduate courses and requiring admission is to fulfill the conditions that follow:

For MD/MS Diploma:

The candidates should be Master’s degree graduates under this University and should have finished their rotatory internship after their Final examination. The candidates should also have registered in Indian Medical council or State Medical council.

For MDS

The candidates should be BDS achievers under this University. They should possess full registration with Indian Dental Council or the State dental council with a completed compulsory internship after their final examination.

How to Apply?

Paper application policy is not followed for this examination. Candidates can apply only via the Internet by downloading and printing their application forms if the candidates prefer paper application. Candidates comfortable with cash payment must pay the cash to Axis Bank, Allahabad. They would be clear to fill the form only after 2 days from the day they paid. Candidates paying via credit/debit cards can start filling the forms and submit them immediately after payment. The candidates are to settle the bank charges of Rs 20 and Rs 40 for cash and credit card payment modes respectively. The last date of submission of application is by the end of January of the year of examination before noon.

How to fill the Form?

Guidelines necessary and relevant for the filling up of the form are provided in the information brochure. The information brochure will be available in the website where the candidates bought their forms in PDF format. If they prefer printed brochure, then they are to send an A4 sized self addressed envelope with a Rs 70/- postage fixed with it. But the application forms will not be there with the brochure delivery. For that you have to go online. The candidates have to make use of the information brochure by reading it completely without missing points so that they would know exactly how to fill the form and what all should be there in each field of entry.

Mistakes in the application form are possible. So double checking the application form once after it’s filled is strongly advised. All entries made should be valid and the form should be submitted on or before the last submission date with al the requirement documents included while submission. The information brochure also tells the candidates how to assess their eligibility on their own to make sure if they are eligible. The eligibility will be checked once more during admission or counseling.

Important Dates (Tentative)

The important dates that the candidates should keep in mind are given below:

Date of UPPGMEE 2011 Entrance Examination: February 3rd week, 2012

UPPGMEE 2011 Application Process starts : January second week, 2012

Last date for receiving completed UPPGMEE 2011 application : End of January , 2012

Expected date of declaration of merit list: March first week, 2012

Date of Medical Board for obtaining physically handicapped certificate: March 3rd week, 2012

Date of first UPPGMEE Counseling : April second week, 2012 (Venue C.S.M Medical University. Lucknow).

Last Date for joining the allotted college & course from first counseling: April second week, 2012

Date of second UPPGMEE counseling: May last week, 2012. Any changes in dates of UPPGMEE counseling will be announced by the Director General Medical Education. (Enquiries should not be directed to the examining body.)

Date of Start of Course: By the end of May, 2012

Last date for candidates for joining allotted seats from 2nd round of UPPGMEE counseling: End of May, 2012

It would be a good idea if the candidates refer their text books and notes they used in Bachelor’s degree. Certain study materials are available for download in the net. Make plans for setting time schedules before the exam. Attend the exam with minimum tension and maximum confidence. Using model question papers for practice is also a wise idea.

How and Where To Get the Results?

The results will be uploaded in time in this site: http://exam.kgmcindia.edu/ and the candidates need to give their roll number on the specific column in order to get the detailed report.

Score Validity

The resulting scores of the candidates after the UPPGMEE will have 1 year validity.
