Course Code: ADMI 3125
Course Title: Technology Based Entrepreneurship
Credit-Hours: 3
Course Description:
This course focuses on the process of starting a business based on technology. It includes topics
such as: Market Analysis, Product Design Specification (PDS), Prototyping, Proposal Preparation,
Strategic Management, Product Cost, Manufacturing Issues and Business Plan Preparation.
Pre/Co-requisites:
None (recommended for senior students)
Course General Learning Goals:
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
a. Describe technology based entrepreneurship
b. Describe the sources of potential opportunities
c. Describe the market assessment process
d. Develop a Product Design Specification (PDS)
e. Describe the principal components of a business plan
f. Prepare a rough prototype or sketch for a proposed product / service
g. Develop a business plan for a new venture (draft)

Students or groups may build a prototype that may involve the use of campus laboratories or
fieldwork.
Assessment of Learning:
During the semester we will be using several techniques that will help us determine your level of
learning. Our main purpose is to help students identify how much and how well he/she is learning
and to detect areas that may need reinforcement before the final grade is determined. These
techniques will also help the professor use more effective teaching strategies. Among others, we will
use the muddiest point and the one minute paper.
