TRADE UNION MOVEMENT ERA

Conditions of the workers in the aftermath of factory system as an outcome in industrial revolution were very pathetic.

The royal commission of labour in India (1911) under the chairmanship of J.H., Whitley recommended the abolition of the ‘jobber’ system.

Basic philosophy underlying trade unionism was to safeguard the workers interest and to sort out of their problems.

These unions used strikes, slowdowns, walkouts, picketing, boycotts and sabotage as weapons for the acceptance of their problems.
