hi everyone, i am looking for information on total systems concept. Actually, i know, what is total systems concept . Total systems concept indicates that logistics management is a tool whereby the needs of the custmers can be satisfied. This is achieved by the effective co-ordination of materials and information flow which extends from the marketplace(i.e customers) through the firm and its operations and beyond that to the various suppliers.To achieve this, different outlook and methods of management are required. for example, before the advent of logistics, all activities cannot be integrated together and were considered separate. If we take marketing and manufacturing activities, both these activities had different objectives so was not possible to integrate. but in todays competitive world its not possible for these activities to survive without integrating them bcoz all activities are equally important. so logistics is a process of integration and so there should b single plan which includes various activities as an integrated process to achieve the desired goals and not different plans for various activites/departments.
Now the problem is i need case studies and examples of various companies and how they apply this concept to their industries. plz if anyone has any examples or if anyone has visited any company where this concept is used, then plz give me some info. I dont know how should i relate this concept to any industry
