now a days we see various newspapers covering the same event bt presented in different views..e.g some rail mishap took place one paper tells 15 die other paper tells 30 died..... As a reader which one to believe??whats your stand on this???

yup I agree with you the papers should provide correct, concrete facts and should present a clear rather a true picture of the events and should not manipulate facts

Hey,
I agree to your point that the facts found in newspapers are nt in unison. But the figs presented in the newspapers are given by their respective correspondents from various locations. So the diff in figs will be there and the error is compensated by the wordings which will follow immediately after the actuals (figs are likely to increase/sources declined to confirm the figs).

It is always to good to have panoramic view abt the same issue. If all the newspapers talk on the same point we will become a st-jacketed horse.

The striking factor in today's newspaper is the increase in the proportion of advertisements. There was a drastic reduction in the news content and increase in the no.of ads featured in the newspapers.

i too agree with you as two different papers states two different facts... which one should be believed????
there is lot of mess out here in this world regarding the flow of information the data interpretation is not at all done by news papers correctly so there is a confusion being marked in the market....

I THINK THERE SHOULD BE SOME AGENCY FOR GATHERING UPTODATE AND ACCURATE DATA.OR SOME NEWSPAPERAGENCY SHOULD WORK HARD TO BECOME REUTERS SO TAHT ITS DATA CAN BE USED AS REFERENCE BY OTHERS

it is very strange to read that in india also. we are complaining about that too in our country...

in my thinking todays every one want earn more money for that few make the news more spicy and attracting news by which the sale is increase more, behind this for making spicy they exaggerated the news.

they just write that matter that will attract people to read it and rather that news that will increase their sales and so this is just a way of earning profit they put anything in news.........

Today all wants spicy and attractive news........ So newspapers r also following news channels by giving sspicy news to increase the sales.............

They actually should give proper figure and should not give unknoown information........ there must be one confirmation agency that will confirm the news which reporters give to newspaper heads.........

This seems like a good idea in theory but in practice it will lead to monopoly of news.. you'll end up creating a monster... one agency in charge of news - just look at the scope for manipulation... it will be the end of free voice...

Yes, the news channels tend to sensationalise news .. watch any hindi news channels and all you will be bombarded with is coverage on sadhus, bhoots and ranir-deepika kiss ! ...

but honestly if you want to preserve freedom of press there is no alternative.. you take the good with the bad ... self-regulation is the only way to go.. and hopefully in the long run the bad apples will shake off .

well, who doesnt want to make money, they are publishing all this because people want all this, and they are working because they want profits and if profits come this way there is nothing wrong in this

Yes the topic is true, and its all because of what viewres want, majority of them. Target audience is changing now a days and hence the source. But there are still few papers left which provide relevent fact and figures.

today's newspapers are full of gimmicks and not any news worth reading. they are only competing to sell their paper rather than bring actual news worhty of reading.

Yes i agree that newspapers are posting the same story but in a modified way in differnt newpapers.Sometimes even the pictures taken are very similar.
