“Mother, oh Mother why did not you let me come in this world. I thought you would shower your love and care on me but you, my creator, terminated me”.

These sheer words are unheard prayer rather than a plea of unfortunate girl child. Today in the 21st century, when one boasts of gender empowerment and equality, the number of female foeticide has increased so much. In the vague of having sons, people are neglecting their love for girl child. On an average 8 out 10 girl children are killed every hour in India. The most ironical thing is that the people who form such things are not illiterate but are well educated. These are the people who form the high strata of society. These are the peoples who speak of ethics and morals but hardly follow any. On the other hand it is shameful on the part of doctors who agree for committing such sins, who take the pledge that they shall endeavor to protect everyone’s life whether poor or rich, irrespective of cast and sex, but these doctors are shamelessly murdering those unborn girls in their mother’s womb. Sometimes this behavior of human astonishes me whether we are humans in the real meaning.
It is well said that we should never take what we can never repay. How only a son will make his parents proud? The names like Kalpana Chawla, Mother Teresa, Princess Diana, Rani Lakshmi Bai and the likes are also someone’s daughter who has made their parent’s proud of them. One must remember “A son is a son till he gets himself a wife, but the daughter is daughter till the end of life.” We should put a firm step forward and try to uproot this social evil of female foeticide. The mother who agrees to such a thing should always remember that after God she is the only one who has got this beautiful opportunity to give life to someone and for the fathers, he should remember that he came to this world only because of his mother who is a female.
