Preparedness comes in handy in almost every facet of life. Be it profession , spousal relationships, friendships , asset management , or just having a map for the road.
Religion tactfully assumes misfortune, and so survives, when earthly utopian hopes ,which must be inevitably disappointed ,soon peris.(#Malcolm Muggeridge)
Hence it would be better if we don’t leave the assumption of our misfortune and day-to-day squabbles on religion. Accepting the inevitable as a part and parcel of our lives , should be individual and not collectivistic ; if the organizations and the society at large is to progress.
That is possible by being prepared to accept the misfortunes that befall, and coming to self realization that – Life wasn’t created by god or aliens from some distant galaxy for our enjoyment, but for us to live it out.
If we post regular complaints and refer to the aforementioned phrase ; that would be improper because when we adhere to the policy of – Being Prepared ; we let go of our inhibitions like mulling over misfortune.
For instance let us pause a bit and think of what is the most inevitable event in everyone’s life?
It is death; be that of someone close to you or yours. Existence is similar to the tires we use in Vehicles. It grows thinner after every drive. But do you stop driving to save up on the cost of tires?
You sure have no control over the length of your life; but you can essentially regulate all the other parameters like – breadth (the people who recognize you), depth (your moral worth in the society’s eyes), height (the position you climbed to; professionally and as a person) --- by sheer power of your will and zeal.
We should be vigil and maintain a mindset that – “This too will change”. That will create a fort in our subconscious after some time , which will ring a siren when a storm approaches ; enabling us to be on our toes both emotionally and spiritually.
I remember some a famous quote from Kipling, when he was asked about his advise to cope with ‘Triumph’ and ‘Disaster’; he said:
“Treat those two imposters just the same.”
