Once upon a time in The Thar,
the land of cactus and dunes,
where any merchant ; the dry loo did mar.
Lived a camel content.....
For both dinner and lunch,
Had he , dates a bunch.
The soldiers ; sots,
when drunk spilled lots.
One day met he ,
A man in the market street.
Who even for touching his ware ; demanded a fee.
when steered clear , even the idiots ; few.........
Thought he , of doing something new.
The camel stopped and asked about his trade.
Showed he , a bracelet of jade.
Enthusiastic he was so much , to finally find a scape,
that could sing in high Pitch ; An Aubade.
Uninterested in jewels and ornaments ,
The camel turned to take his leave.
In desperation the con showed him a sieve.
Bewildwered ; asked the camel,
"What is this used for?"
Baited the con non-chalantly ,
"Oh! You don't know ?
If you bury it in the ground ,
and for a few days ; leave the mound,
when you hear a rattling sound ,
to become rich , you're bound."
The camel did as he was told ,
and dreamed of opal and gold.
Hearing a dong , he did dash,
but drained his gleam in a flash.
Laughed the scorpion , caught in the gauze:
"For words , to mock you dead ;
I am at a loss.
Seen many conned badly in this Lawless Land,
But never a camel who bought sand. "
