Introduction: What is the fate of families and brothers separated at the time of partition? Do they respond to the call of their country? Do they strive to sit amidst their loved ones or indulge themselves in their daily routines and try to work past their memories? What happens when the smell of their homeland drifts across borders and lures them back to reminisce about the streets they once used to roam?
--------------------------------------
Came I , hot from a kiln,[/b]
A bit off at the edge ,[/b]
and a huge crack in the mid.[/b]
As grow our brotherly bond ,[/b]
Separated ; one used as a wedge ,[/b]
and the other used to draw hop scotch , by a kid.[/b]

For words they were at a loss,[/b]
though promised to each other ,[/b]
Their paths would one day ; cross.[/b]
[/b]
Between the door and the wall,[/b]
for a family of four to pass,[/b]
He had to often stall.[/b]
The door as abrasive , as smooth the floor was.[/b]
[/b]
The other went down in girth,[/b]
for hop scotch,[/b]
the outline they'd chalk.[/b]
Played under the watchful eyes of the mother,[/b]
who in a few months , was due to give birth.[/b]
[/b]
The years rolled a little too fast.[/b]
the brothers soon lost count.[/b]
Each knew forever , they'd not last.[/b]
Things like scorpions and ants allowed they , to mount.[/b]
[/b]
Come a bull-dozer , to raze the house.[/b]
without the office-bound husband's notice ,[/b]
to her lover; wrote it away, the unfaithful spouse .[/b]
[/b]
Under the tires , turn back they .....[/b]
back to fine clay.[/b]
As the water to clear the rubble flow,[/b]
The mud mingled and made a mound.[/b]
The potter's kiln, which took back in its roe,[/b]
A notch brighter , did it glow.[/b]
