The Brethren of Light (poem)

Introduction : the notion of this poem came when I saw a bulb and Tubelight occupying nearby poles on the street. If personified ; what would be their chatter like ?

--------------------------------------------------

Once in a while , on a new moon,

The fat bulb says to the slender tube,

“Be gone Wanton! , thane days be over soon.

The streets once again ; glow with yellow light,

Thrown and smashed in the dump ; your kind,

As people grow weary , of all the white.”

“Forget shoes ! , Daydreams won’t even buy you a sole.”

With a flicker, says the tube on the neighboring pole.

Loved much you are, and like you the best,

Not the humans , but hordes of pest.

Art thou, like the Artist who drew too hard.

Or recites a one too many, the desperate bard.

As burst do you, in your seat;

Unable to ward off, your own heat.
