The bus service will start from Kalyan West railway station and terminate at the Teen Haath naka in Thane or Modella Check Naka bordering the Mulund check naka. The service will pass through Ganesh ghat, Nashik highway, Diva village and also pass through the Ghodbunder junction that is an important link to Thane- and Western- Central Mumbai. The KDMT presently has a service that goes upto Alimgarh, which will then be extended to Thane. The approximate time taken by the bus to traverse the route is expected to be less than 30 minutes and halting at less than 10 stops enroute. The KDMT plans to put 8 vehicles on this route that will initially ply at a frequency of 20 minutes. Speaking about the date of commencement of the services, Sanjay Gharat, DMC in- charge of the KDMT says that they are all geared up and are awaiting a clearance from the TMT. "The proposals have been sanctioned and resolution was passed last month from our end and we are just awaiting a NOC clearance from the TMT authorities," informs Gharat.
The basic fare structure hasn’t yet been decided and will be done once the NOC comes in. In return for their approval, the KDMT will allow TMT services that currently run up to Khidkali bordering Mumbra and Dombivli to extend upto Shastri Nagar in Dombivli West.
The KDMT believes that this service will largely benefit the residents of the two-mega cities after Mumbai. Thane is a district centre while Kalyan is a big railway junction. The bus service will cater to the huge population that commutes between Thane and Kalyan and also those working in the interiors of Thane like Wagle Estate and Ghodunder area who wont have to access the railway stations. Also the service will be beneficial for those working in Western side and staying in suburbs or vice versa as the buses can be interchanged at the Ghodbunder junction at Thane.
