A teacher's grievance:

I have been an elementary school teacher for eight years. I have had a few issues with administration over the years. One big issue was that I am the single mom of two children. The recent issue is facebook. I think facebook is a very gray area. I had posted a 'tasteful' picture of me kissing my boyfriend. I was told within 24 hours that the school board and administration was pushing for me to be fired asap. I do not believe that this is fair at all. The picture was very tasteful. After the administration talked to the school lawyer I was informed that the school had no grounds to dismiss me unless i reposted the pictures. I spoke to a union lawyer and he informed me that they have no grounds for action at all. After all was said and done I was strongly urged to delete my facebook page alltogether. I would like lots of feedback on this issue!!!!

As a moral mentor, teachers must guide students gently into their own moral knowing. A mentor is an example of "the way" of moral knowing, feeling, and acting. As they develop in the role of mentor, the teacher's own mind and beautiful heart become a source of inspiration for students. Classroom dialogue alive with moral images from personal stories provides a nourishing context for students to adopt a higher value perspective as their own. As teachers add their creativity and life experience to the process of moral education, their effectiveness increases as well as their confidence as mentors to their students and fellow teachers. Teachers' role as moral-mentors cannot be ignored.

Teachers already sacrifice enough to teach today's kid's.
After a day of dealing with a spoiled A$$ brat who can do no worng in Mommy and Daddies eyes, or a Thug Wanna Be, the need a beer!
It's not like kid's haven't seen a adult having a drink- they see parent and others all the time.
At least teachers do attempt to project the "perfect" image like some folks think of their kid's.
Seeing them go in a movie- the student probably got dropped off to spend a few hours while the parents go do whatever some don't think teachers should do.
Teacher's should be held accountable for acceptable behavior- like no DUI's, etc., but they already do not get paid enough for what they do and the crap they put up with trying to educate children while the parents are smoking crack, popping pills and do not give a crap abou the the kids in some cases,
