students- part time jobs?

Hello all,
There are many students who do part time jobs with their studies.
I have a question.
Does a part time job affects the study or not?

In my opinion- Its ok to have a part time job with study if you know how to. balance them. It teaches you the value of time and money.

especially for programs like MBA, part time job will be an added advantage if you could get that in your chosen field.

yes it may help in your studies if you try to learn something from it. But some students only go for money. This is the big disadvantage for their studies. That is why I said that there should be a balance between your study and part time job. Isn't it?

I dont think it affects studies ss long as you know how to balance between the two. Take out appropriate time for studies. I was also a part of this.

Working part-time will give students more time for other things. We could go home after work and enjoy more time in TV, have fun in other extra-curricular activities or you could go back to school for graduate studies.

Ya I m also doing part time job... it's helping to support my fee. I am earning too with this by which i can enjoy my life....and we can do any kind of expense which may be for future or for enjoyment...

Students are increasingly likely to work while in college. Since 1984, the fraction of college students aged 16 to 24 who also work full- or part-time has increased from 49 to 57 percent. Not only are students more likely to work today, but they are more likely to work full-time: the share of students working full-time while going to school full-time has nearly doubled, rising from 5.6 percent in 1985 to 10.4 percent in 2000. In 2000, 828,000 full-time students worked full-time, compared to 366,000 in 1985.Part-time student employment may have beneficial effects: for example, an on-campus research position may spark a student's interest in further academic programs or provide important work experience that will improve future labor market prospects. Working part-time as a student generally appears to supplant only non-productive activities, such as watching television. In addition, students who work fewer than 10 hours per week have slightly higher GPAs than other similar students.

I have been working since three years while taking cources over a bachelor degree and i can tell you that is the best way as you take advantage of real life experience while applying it to your studies. But avoid working on fileds that are not related to what you are studiyng

if we can manage our studies and job properly then it wold be great!
plus if we get job with is related to our field then it should be advantage for us.

Working part time in the post office, in a public bank, library, state park, zoo, etc. could be a good option to consider for those interested in government-based part time jobs with benefits. Benefits would include extended leaves, additional pay for working overtime, as well as most of the regular perks enjoyed by those working in government organizations. Read more on government jobs.
