Stock Market - Is it really a good investment Ave.

Key is not to be emotionally attached to any stock. One tends to overlook any bad news, if one is not emotionally neutral to a scrip.
Its easier said than done.
I too have lost money after being emotionally attached to the scrips.

Coming years will see a lot of investment in infrastructure space..... i guess if anyone wants to make investment then infra is a good place to be in........ there is also new fund reliance , Reliance infrastructure fund...... i think investment can made in this fund for long term

Folks _ I have been in the stock market for 3 years and have started wondring if it is really a good investment Ave.

Good, Bad or Ugly?

It has given me great cash backs. But any small mistake has ruined my investment to great extent.

even though I have started measuring the stock based on the fundamental as well the technical parameter. The love for holding the stock has taken away small gain and has runied the whole capital expenditure.

The stock market is like a roller coaster ride....

Like the ups and downs are very sudden and thrilling as well as scary, so is the stock market.....

Investment in the stocks needs careful calculated risks and a drive to put in your cash where you can cash out enormous return when you sell your stocks...

Hey .. nice discussion going on here..... well stock market is the best medium of investment, its not me or a person telling this, its the whole world which tells that. Financial analysts have proved that in 1 dollar was invested in US markets in 1925 its worth would be in hundreds of millions(Exact data is controvercial so not posting). It has given more returns than any other investment instrument in the finance field. So start investing WISELY and i know that 50 years down the line you will see yourself as a may be a billionaire .

Now thats my cup of tea so i would like to contribute as well :)
Stock market is the best source for making fast money, more money than any other investment but with maximum risk.
Obviously risks can be minimized if we know when and where to invest. Through knowledge is required about the things around us and the trends - smart investment.
As the share funda says - "One should not put all eggs into one basket"

Yes dear i m agree with you stock market investment is little bit tricky. it is properly studied before making investment in any company, it is not child's play

one should not invest his all money in 1 or 2 company, but in small lots should be purchased.

In India since the deposit rates are much better compared to the US where deposit rates for a 1 year fixed deposit for example are around 1.5 % currently, especially in India you may find much better risk return ratio products compared to the stock markets as investment avenues.

I think the stock market is a wonderful way to make money provided you stick to the fundamental and technical analysis, its when people bring in emotions and stick to a stock that is going down in the hope that it will go up later or hang on to a stock that is going up in the hope that they can make greater gains that the problem starts. Stick to your analysis and keep realistic goals about gains/losses and book them periodically.......

Each investment alternative has its own strengths and weaknesses. Some options seek to achieve superior returns (like equity), but with corresponding higher risk. Other provide safety (like PPF) but at the expense of liquidity and growth. Other options such as FDs offer safety and liquidity, but at the cost of return. Mutual funds seek to combine the advantages of investing in arch of these alternatives while dispensing with the shortcomings.
