Stock Market - Is it really a good investment Ave.

The case of the sub-prime land prepackaged and sold as part of the stock in the global market to foreign investors shows how far investment has changed the whole scenario....
Inflated prices , collusion unethical lending, what next.....Investment in stockmarkets have entered a new era of unethical investments.....and has backfired on global investors...even risk analysis couldnt see it coming......

The euphoria has died out when almost everything was rising.......its only after something happens that people get back to fundamentals.....and this is what is happening now....there are stocks which are trading at 50% of their book value and with decent businesses......there are no doubt great value picks at this stage...but some more wait will give these same stocks for virtually no price!! Pls do look into the BS as a compulsion to c the debt component....as in these hard times interest payments can erode the profits completely!!

I do agree with all of you...

Like Abdul said it true that you can earn a lot of money & a small error can vanish off your gains..

Another important thing is that how do you judge the stocks?? what are the parameters??
According to me, it depends upon your risk profile..
If you are a risk taker then you can earn much more..
High Risk = High Return..

Stock Fundamentals are seen only by the long run investors.. Their risk are low and hence the returns are also low..
Technical Calls are looked by Short Term investors... Their Risk are high & hence even returns are high..
Research Tips are used for the intraday purposes... They have the highest risk but they fetch the highest return...

IT all depends upon you and your risk taking capacity...

Dear Cityboy,
who said to take the Stock Market as the measurement of the Economy??
It is not the measurement but it reflects the economy..
It the companies are performing good, their prices should go up (it does go up).. So, it many times used to see whether the economy is going up or not..
Secondly there is a link of everything with the economy..
If Stock MArket goes up then Dollars have to go down... It is because it is assumed that when the Indian Stock MArket goes up, more & more FDIs comes in they bring in dollars and so the demand for dollar against rupee goes down and hence rupee value increases.. The exact opposite is the case when the FDI exits...

So whether you like it or not, your entire life (in India) is someway or the other associated with the stock market..

stock markets hav always been an invest option not 4 the hard earned money but the black one...............

long term investments can really help u in making money but investing for short term can sometimes be very good and sometimes bad so be carefull

hi...if ur really interested in investing, ill suggest u to go with a portfolio..because u know, stock market is a place where smart people makes money and idiots losses money..so before investing try to find out stocks with negative corelation..so that ur standred deviation should not be more.......invest smarly, and go for long term investment at this moment..AND INVEST IN A PORTFOLIO..not in a isolated stock to reduce ur risk..:SugarwareZ-229:

hi,
as people here said that it is good to invest in stock market for long term, i would like to add that if u r interested in investing for long term, go for equity shares. u can also go for mutual fund. it is less risky as wont have all eggs in same basket.

well everything has some good effects as well as bad ones so is d stock market... it is a high risk-reward game which demands patience and d right instinct to succeed. well i think it is a good option to invest in if invested for a longer time period

well stock market is always a good investment avenue... just u have to be a bit patient in it.. long term investors will gain..but an investor must follow a principle devised by experts to invest in stock market. According to this principle a person must invest amount = 80- age of a person.
if age is 25 then investment in stocks should be 80-25= 55% of their income. rest should be savings, expenses and secured deposits

Stock markets are instruments which give double digit growth. But the investments should be for medium to long term. ie 3-20 yrs. It should be reviewed every year. But for people who have little or no professional knowledge of the market should invest in Equity schemes of Leading Mutual Funds.
