hi,

We have to choose a topic for 100 marks project in final year.. i want to do something related to marketing...so i thought abt a topic "SPIRITUAL GURUS AND THEIR MARKETING GIMMICKS."

In this i m planning to talk abt why channels like 'aastha', 'sanskar', etc invest so much into such gurus... and try to talk to some gurus like ramdev and some others who are into yoga and ayurvedic medicines...and also talk to gym ppl abt wht is their opinion abt the yoga market and how do these programmes affect their business...

i have not yet started anything related to my project...i would be glad if anyone could comment about my topic and tell me if its a nice topic and should i go ahead with it..

suggestions are most welcome... hope i get help regarding this topic from most of the ppl..

is on charge these dayz....a recent one..was Shri Ramdev tryin 2 prove medical science and scientist wrong ...abt the effects of medicinesand its side effects...blah blahh...i dnt rem much...its a very good example u can take in the topic...

The topic u have choosen is a very challenging one.. Infact i believe couple weeks back there was a story on this wherein they were tryin to evaluate that hw come frm mere 1-2 spiritual channel it has grwn up to become a huge mkt.. The survey they had come up with was ppl are now more interested in getting in touch with their innerselves.. Some feel that watchin this would take off the burden frm they head's.. The next major thing which came up was hw the advertisers are seeing this... Infact the ad world was pretty much sure that its a grwing market werin 5 yrs dwn the line it would be hvin double the users it has..
The question raised to this ppl was " Would they be ready to invest in this growing market".. which ppl responded to ya why no we see a good potential market dwn here.. And not investing would be being in fool's land..

So you can actually try to get views of the industry on this topic of growing spirtual channels.. As it wil provide more weightage to your project

Survey reports you wont find readymade of any particular company though ill chck out if i have a perfoma kinda thing for survey report..!!

i was not asking about the company survey reports...sorry for incomplete information... i was asking about the survey reports which you mentioned saying tht ppl think tht they can get in touch with themselves through yoga and all such channels... my frnd told me tht i can get it on CNN IBN site... i'll check but if you have any more info please let me know..

well i jsut want to say that this is really a good topic
but the thing is that u will have to look out for n number of information as this itself is a vast topic
and u will aslo have to look for controversial issues in this


i thing that i want to say is that this not a marketing gimmic as u said in ur message

all and all this is a good topic and u will get really good information in this go ahead and all the best

wud concur that the topic is very different and good
you might have to do some original work

wud like to share some unorganized thoughts (not necessary relevant..but related) :

several spiritual/motivational speakers earn a lot of money which they probably use for good cause as well.

i think these ppl dont need to do marketing. they just need to inform their audience (which is abundant) about their upcoming gatherings ;-)
several of them have their own monthly publications which i guess is sufficient
mentioning of these gatherings on the TV channel could be mutual as both benefit.

their medication (never tried any) might be actually successful otherwise so many ppl wont be using them...

about yoga i have seen many ppl who have benefitted tremendously by performing yoga. benefits like better health, peace of mind, stress free life and younger looks

similar to the story of yoga which was earlier neglected by indians as well only to be revived after americans took interest in it...may be soon ayurvedic/homeopathic medication would gain acceptance.

viewership of these channel seem to me would be rural house wives and ppl above 40 years of age..

u may get an idea of the viewer ship from companies who advt on these channels. also by noting which products are advt u may get the target audience

apart from the hindi ones you have mentioned there are some similar channels in english as well...mostly the viewership will be from south.


i think its better to watch these channel which teaches some good thoughts than what a saas bahu serials wud do

i feel not only the rural housewives but even working women as well as men are taking interest in it... i have seen so many ppl around me who are really influenced by ramdev baba...and they do follow his yoga whenever they have time... even i dont kno abt the medication... as i have not seen anyone using it...

and one more thing... this is not only for a single person... its to everyone... please tell me how do i start it... i have lottss of ideas but i m so confused... i dont kno where to start it from...

i m trying to get some contact numbers of such channels so i can take their interview... i want to do a survey with people so i can know how many ppl actually believe and follow it... and their opinion abt it... i want to talk to gym ppl abt their opinion and how does the yoga market affect them... if "possible" i want to talk to ramdev baba... and take some gyaan from him abt yoga and his medication...

these are my ideas... if you all have anything more to add please let me kno... and tell me how do i start with it...

Talk to doctors also.. How is influence of yoga on the minds of people affecting their business.

More and more people are turning towards yoga.. and if it actually cures as much as they say it does.. then these doctors will run out of business, especially the small clinics.

Also, as you said you have lot of ideas and dont know where to start.. list down all your ideas here.. and we will interact acc to dat.

hi guys...

after long time back to mp... i found some info for my topic... i read in a newspaper tht these gurus pay channels around 6-7lakhs for an hour to get their show on the channel... CEO of aastha said tht they get all the money from the trust they run....

i dont kno wht else should i put in the project... please can anyone help me with the contents of the project... i need urgent help as i want to complete the project asap and switch on to studies...

hope i get relevant information from all you guys...thanks...

hey frnd nice unique topic iam sure if u make this project carefully are r sure to score an "o" grade but well i have heard that these furus pay for about lacks of rupees to come on tv and recently a magzine also carried an article on this
