SPICMACAY Event at IIMA with Ms. Kumudini Lakhia
IIM Ahemdabad, Spetember 29: IIM Ahmedabad will be hosting a SPICMACAY event on 30th September 2014. The event is a lecture demonstration choreographed by Ms. Kumudini Lakhia, in which her disciples will perform as she delivers the lecture.
Kumudini Lakhia is a Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awarded Kathak dancer and choreographer. She is a pioneer in contemporary Kathak dance, she is credited for moving away from the solo form of Kathak starting in the 1960s, by turning it into a group spectacle, and also innovations like taking away traditional stories and adding contemporary storylines into Kathak repertoire.
She has learned first from various gurus of Jaipur gharana and then from Shambhu Maharaj. She is particularly known for her multi-person choreographies. Some of her most famous choreographies include Dhabkar , Yugal and Atah Kim.She was also a choreographer in the hindi film Umrao Jaan (1981).
This event will be preceded by the FICCI event "Mega Trends Road Show" which invites distinguished FICCI young leaders including Mr Shivendra Mohan Singh, Executive Vice Chairman, Fortis and Ms Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Vice Chairperson, Kinetic Engineering Ltd to discuss the concept of Third Industrial Revolution.
