Sneek Peak into Ahvan

Ahvan is the flagship event of IIM Indore. Ahvan meaning “evocation” is our collective inspired call for action that is decisive, inspiring, socially uplifting and sustainable. The event showcases the talent of the brightest minds from B-Schools as they contend to prove their mettle in different domains of management.

The theme for Ahvan this year is “Lead to Transform”.To be an able commander is important, but to be able to positively transform everything around you is the first responsibility of a leader. All of the great leaders have had one characteristic in common: it was the willingness to confront unequivocally the major anxiety of their people in their times.

Through Ahvan, one will get the chance to fully exploit one's skills and to bring about the transformation that one thinks is currently needed. Ahvan is the opportunity to be able to identify problems and transform them into opportunities. Ahvan is about inspirational motivation to identify what needs to be done and to provide the impetus for all to move forward. Ahvan is about the intellectual stimulation through which we questions underlying assumptions and build our own new world. Ahvan is also about individual consideration, it is our revolution for something bigger and better.

Ashwamedha:[/b]

An event earmarked to anoint the person who shall lead tomorrow's India, Ashwa, the flagship event of Ahvan, is a unique platform where participants prove their mettle and vie to be recognised as the next great “Nation Builder”. Conceptualized by Dr. Vijay Menon, Ashwamedha is a one of its kind event on the B-School circuit. Participants are required to prove their mettle in varied aspects such as negotiation, decision making, team work, creativity, stress handling, self- confidence and other such skills testing their managerial and leadership acumen under high pressure situations. This year the focus will be on “Nation Building”. The champion that Ashwamedha seeks this year will have to be more than just a leader and must prove his or her credentials in all aspects of nation building as well. Another significant change this year is that Ashwamedha will be open not only to Business schools but also to select institutes of excellence in other disciplines as well.

Kalpavriksha:[/b]

Another flagship event of Ahvan, Kalpavriksha is a national level social business plan event focused on achieving social upliftment attained by generating sustainable business ideas. Since its national launch in 2006, Kalpavriksha has seen immense participation from students and has given the platform for finalists to take part in the GSEC (Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition) - one team went on to win the finals in 2009 held at Foster Business School, Seattle.Last year, Kalpavriksha has tied-up with TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs)'s Mumbai Chapter as a knowledge partner, and a webinar was organized. The idea put forward by the winners of last year is working for upliftment of the rural youth.

Chanakya:[/b]

Inspired by the revered figure of intellect, Chanakya, this flagship event is structured to expose participants to the various facets of consulting. Through a mix of real life and simulated cases, participants are called upon to demonstrate their skills of diagnosis, problem solving, analysis and presentation. As Ahvan’s flagship event, Chanakya attracted maximum participation across with participants from several institutes such as ISB, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow and XLRI took part in this competition.

Gordian Knot: [/b]

Gordian Knot 2011, the flagship event of Ahvan, is a one-of-its kind event in India. It harps on the age-old belief that man is a social animal and we operate in the midst of others. Gordian Knot will pitch the best from Indian Arts, Science, Commerce, Technology as well as Business schools in a head to head battle to find out a 3 member team which can best think on its feet, hold on to its nerves and make tough but rational decisions to walk away as champions. The nature of the competition itself is a closely guarded secret. However, there would be labyrinthine puzzles, decision making problems set in business scenarios, seemingly impossible tasks with sparse resources and tight deadlines, heated debates and to top it all, selling wares in the mean streets of Indore.

Klueless:[/b]

Klueless has been one of the flagship events of IIM Indore’s management fest, Ahvan for the past 6 years and it has garnered a cult following both amongst students and salaried professionals. The event is launched as a precursor to Ahvan and has varying number of levels every year that involve navigating through the levels by using logical reasoning and critical thinking. With over 95000 participants from 110 countries and over 3.5 million hits last year, this year Klueless is gearing up to launch its 7th version and thus becoming bigger and better.

Finance League: [/b]

Finance League is one of the biggest B-School events to bring together the various domains of Finance under one umbrella. It is one of its kinds National Level Finance Event which tests the sharpest and the brightest financial brains of India’s top B-schools in areas like Banking, Insurance, Equities and Derivatives. Teams from all over the country participate in the first phase. The top 8 teams are invited to the campus on the basis of their scores of the first phase. They whack their brains on the most challenging problems in each of the three campus rounds and the winner is decided on the final day based on the cumulative scores of each round.

Entrepid:[/b]

Conceptualized in 2009, Entrepid – The Online Business Strategy Simulation Game, aims to act as a platform to enhance the learning of the participants by giving them the controls of a company and exposing them to the various issues that are encountered in day-to-day operations of a firm. Spread over three days, Entrepid brings together teams of domain experts from every field, testing their ability in the areas of Finance, Operations, Marketing, HR and Strategy. The team that synergizes their knowledge with application better than any other emerges as the sole winner.

Adapt: [/b]

[/b]Adapt is an advertising and communication event which tests the creativity of the participants in the niche field of advertising. Participants are required to create print/video advertisements based on a theme provided to them and are then evaluated based on the parameters laid by judges who actually belong to advertising industry. In its previous edition, Adapt attracted students from many top colleges across India like IIM A, IIM C, IIM L, IIM K, IIM I, NITIE, SP Jain, Great Lakes, MDI along with institutes such as MICA, JICM which excel in the field of communications.

Chain Reaction: [/b]

[/b]Chain Reaction is the National Level Operations Management and Supply Chain Event. Currently, rising prices of edible items and inflation has largely been due to ineffective SCM. Through this event participants know about various waste generating activities in entire supply chain and learn how to tackle them in real time. Students from the premier B Schools across the country compete in an engrossing challenge of operations strategy and supply chain management to determine the best team.

My Campaign:[/b]

The world as we see around us is plagued with gnawing problems demanding resolution. My Campaign a clarion call to budding managers to wake up to such issues and create innovative marketing campaigns. The objective of this event is to give the participants an opportunity to use their creativity in coming up with ways to address Social issues in an innovative manner and at the same time use marketing concepts in preparing the marketing and communication plan to propagate this campaign keeping in mind real life market scenario.

I-Rising: [/b]

[/b]I-Rising, the quizzing event of Ahvan showcases the talent of a community which is stretching its wings and soaring out to claim its place in this world. The event consists of two parts – Bizzinesia and The Great Indian Sojourn. Bizzinesia is one of the premier business quizzes in the country and attracts some of India’s brightest minds from its b-schools. The Great Indian Sojourn is a unique online India quiz, in which the participant is a traveler across this vast and intriguing land, where he will have to unlock the mysteries of each region to traverse further. The Great Indian Sojourn showcases all regions of India, their diversity, traditions and histories unlike no other event in this country.

Live Wire: [/b]

Livewire is the Glitz and Glamour of Ahvan with live performance by one of the stalwart of the entertainment industry. Some of the famous names that have graced the stage for Livewire include Indian Ocean, Parikrama, Euphoria, Silk route, Mohit Chouhan, Neeraj Shridhar, Kunal Ganjawala.Indulge in the maverick ecstasy of the defences torn down by a heart racing concert amidst the scenic background of IIM Indore by one of your favorite Bollywood artists.
