Slumdog Millionaire made by an Indian director

yes if it had been made by an indian director...then it would have been called foreign film..n sirf ek hi category me nomination milta use...

If it wud have been made by an indian director then it wouldn't have been even nominated for the oscars....we indians like those things which brings disgrace to india....accept it or not ur choice......

nope. i dont think so.. the perspective of a hollywood or a british director is very different form an Indian Director... we tend to get emotional rather than capturing that emotion onscreen...

no i dont this so,,coz the way he projected the movie represent the west view of lookin at india. People from west are not interested in love story from india but they want ground reality with some hollywood effects. danny capture that to perfection and won himself a oscar.

Yes, it would have, but given that the movie would have been made in the same way, and yes, have been marketed too in an equally brilliant way. Also, I belive we can't compare a movie which was made for western audiance (e.g. SM itself) with an Indian or since I've seen more of these, Hindi movie. The story, pace, characters'-portrayal, or even the locations would have been all different - in general our own film-makers refrain from showing too much realism (e.g. the slums or garbage-heaps in the movie...even the kind of language used).

In my opinion, if it was made by an Indian director it wud ve been a disaster....bcoz those who r a part of india wont look at those slums like d others who r nt a part of India.Reverence for Life affords me my fundamental principle of morality, namely, that good consists in maintaining, assisting, and enhancing life and that to destroy, harm, or to hinder life is evil. Affirmation of the world -- that is affirmation of the will to live, which appears in phenomenal forms all around me -- is only possible for me in that I give myself out for other life'

i feel its to encourage the enhancing relationship b/w Hollywood & bollywood
i mean ultimately to extend the hollywood market further in india and to earn more profit ..
they had got the right chance by picking a movie with involvement both from
Hollywood & bollywood

Those making devdas or Page 3, or Dielhi 6 - can we call them directors. Do they know what lenses a camaera has... film is a proper art and craft and science. What is passing off today in the name of cinema is a joke played on audiences and real artistes.
SlumDog will, though produced in Hollywood, will, hopefully bring back the era of eventful and good cinema back again. SlumDog is no great film, despite its getting 8 Oscars - but a sincere effort...and that is why it has been appreciated - the sincerity towards the art by the makers
In Bollywood, the characters would be made to wear raw silk torn clothes, with lip-sticks and dances and dream sequences
