With almost 40 years in the political arena, Mr. Yechury has played a leading role in the formation of India’s polity. His struggle during the Emergency and his representation of India’s disaffected in parliament mark him as a man held in the highest esteem. In times when a new economy must be tempered with a humane and just approach, Mr. Yechury serves as a guardian of such values.
