Bangalore, Karnataka, September 24 2011 – SIBM Bangalore hosted its annual marketing summit, Altius.
Altius 2011 was organized by SIBM Bangalore to unite, to fortify, to explore, to experience and to discover the Indian markets. The event opened with a power packed speech by Mr. Dinesh Jain - CEO, Nissan Motors India where he tested the audience in the spirit of competition and learning. These lessons were supported by examples from Nissan’s strategy in India with Nissan Sunny fitting the context.
The first of the three events to commence was “No Retakes” which was presided by eminent panelists like Mr. Sandeep Budhiraja - Vice President, TNS Global, Mr. Nilay Arora - Director, ibibo, Mr. Arun Kotagiri - COO at GyanSys and Mr. Chandar Sundaram - Consultant, IIM Bangalore. A lucid discussion ensued on how current business leaders make a mark for themselves and the role digital media plays in further magnifying it. Various aspects of how to make the marketing campaigns of a company successful and creativity being the differentiating factor was also discussed.
The second session “Wired and Grounded” dealt with the balance between Digital and Rural Marketing. The guest list included industry stalwarts like Mr. Karthik Padmanabhan - Country Manager, IBM, Mr. Ranjeet Pawar – Head, Marketing & Communication and Experian India, Mr. Prashant Singh - Vice President, The Nielsen Company. The potential of the rural markets was the main point in focus and the nuances to tap them and connect to them through the art of effective marketing was discussed. The example of “Thanda matlab Coca-Cola” which Coke used as a one shot solution for rural as well as urban markets gave a crystal clear picture to the audience on how to pin point the consumer sentiment and the expected response.
The final session “My Dream My Brand” completed the 360 degree analysis of marketing. Two extremely successful entrepreneurs Mr. Phanindra Sama - CEO, Redbus.in and Mr. Manish Sharma - CEO, Printo were present to enlighten the audience and encourage potential entrepreneurs to follow their dream without inhibitions. Their personal anecdotes sent across a message that it is the out ‘the box thinking’ that helps an individual make an ascent. They shared with the entire audience their journey of how they constructed their companies from scratch.
Altius 2011 achieved its objective of bringing marketing stalwarts, academicians, corporates and eminent speakers to brainstorm about “What’s New” and “What’s Next” in the Indian Marketing arena.
