Having freedom of speech is important but is it called art to insult someone on a personal level or even endanger them with what your saying as long as it's done in an "artistic" way.

I mean lets not forget most art says something and words can hurt people. New ideas being relayed through art can be incredibly helpful sometimes a fresh outlook is necessary for an evolving society but what about Charlie Manson. He was technically an artist, a musician to be more precise would you like your kids listening to him on your radio every morning while you drive them to school.

If we limit our artists we limit our selves but we must establish what art is before we can condemn any thing.

ya why not, idiots like MF Hussain would go on doing the same mistake if there are no limits on artistic freedom. That idiot had barred the limits of a common man's imagination. I think the Hndus were very unhappy with his play of art.

Such examples really let people think over many issues that make people to a hault over situations, so I think yes there be limits of artistic freedom.

No, we have the right of expression and we cannot deny that. There are some fabulous and exceptionally talented writers who are not allowed in their own motherland . Who are the people to decide my work and why they should judge my art. Writer like Salman Rushdie and Taslima nasreen faced so many problems.I am talking about real and authentic artist .

This is a more challenging question than one might think. What i'm saying is, you need to first define art. Having freedom of speech is essential but is it called art to insult somebody on a personal level or even jeopardize them with what your saying as long as it's performed in an "artistic" way. I mean we should not forget every art says something and words can hurt people.
