Should India switch to bio-fuel?

Currently,India has two burning problems.Food and Fuel.Food prices are touching sky high.Inflation is hovering a tad below 8% based on WPI.Fuel prices are constantly increasing.Oil was trading at $118/barrel.Congress Govt has already increased the fuel prices. So the increase won't happen in the near future keeping the elections in mind.Is this the right time for India to switch to bio-fuel?Communist has already voiced their opposition against the bio-fuel.Bio-fuel will allay some burden on fuel part but it will take the land for the food crop cultivation. In most of the developed countries land previously used for food crops are now cultivating Jatropha.Jatropha is bio-crop which will grow on hot climate, which is suitable for India.Already Indian agricultural production is in pits.Farmers are already ruined with the high interest rates. With the advent of the Jatropha crop, this is take the place of food crops.Moreover,bio-fuels possess threat to the climate. So should India switch to bio-fuel?

Bio fuel is definately the alternative but it has so far not emerged as the best alternative. Now a days petrol is being mixed with other chemicals and many companies who manufacture cars have brought in the technology to use these fuels.

no we can have other alternatives ...it is made of food ...which will inflate the inflation...we must see to hydrogen for that...the other food production will be low coz of that

there should be other natural alternatives like solar power etc. it should not be an alternative to petrol...
