Coimbatore: To educate and train investors and other stakeholders about capital markets, regulator SEBI has decided to set up a training institute on the outskirts of Mumbai.

The institute would have six different schools with various topics, SEBI chairman M Damodaran said while interacting with members of various associations here last night. “This institute will be the first of its kind in the world (to be) run by a regulator,” he said.

The institute would incorporate different programmes, including a Ph.D on Capital Market and on regulators themselves, he said, adding 60 per cent of the faculty would be drawn from across the country.

SEBI has also tied up with some experts from the US and the United Kingdom. Construction activities would commence soon.
