Sampling Process:

The sampling process basically incorporated the entire method from deciding the sample population to the sample plan.

It is the most important part of the research so as to avoid errors and omissions.

The Sample Population

Element: The targeted population of the research. Therefore for our project it incorporates the males and females of Sec A1 and A2 from the age group 18 and above.

Unit: It is the segmented population for the research, which in our project are the urban households.

Extent: The scale of our operation is Mumbai-Western Suburbs.

Time: The project was to be completed within 3 months. December and feburary, 2004 were the months in which our organisation went through extensive and rigorous research process and analysis.

The Sample Frame:
The sample frame of our research is the car dealers. The car owners are the respondents which are incidental within the frame.

Let Z be the frame within which part of the respondents is incidental.
Let Y be the incidental population within the frame.

The Sampling Unit:
The Sampling unit is India-Maharashtra-Mumbai-Western Suburbs.

Methods of Sampling:
Stratified Random sampling has been chosen by our research agency.

We have chosen the above mentioned method, because:
(i) Obtaining information about parts of the universe becomes easy

(ii) Greater precision through stratification facilitates estimations of different variables incorporated in the research.

Sample Size
The sample size was 50 respondents in the western suburbs of Mumbai, because it gives us an absolute figure for comparison relating to separate parametric measures.

Hey abhi, thanks for the information and it was really very impressive. Well, Sampling is an approach of examining from a few selected items rather than the entire big number of units. BTW, i am also uploading a document where you would get more detailed information.
