this is not a management technique being tested here, its jus that i have found a person in a strange situation and am myself quizzed as what should be the solution to it... so let me put it in open court fr all of you to suggest - BUT MIND IT, PLEASE DON'T APPLY MGMT TACTICS AS THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM...

it is about Shikha, an intelligent girl who wants to make big in this world but with her brains rather than the looks, that is where the problem starts( NO, DON'T THINK OF ANY GREY TURN!! IT HAS NOT COME YET!!).this brunette was working in an International company till some time back she got a news of sudden termination of services.She is shocked and angry to the utmost extent.

She had been among the most promising and hardworking youngster who has been hired recently...she is cited as a smart brain inside her frnd circle and her super boss is really impressed with her work..She has been able to make her presence felt at higher levels too..

sometime back her superboss got promoted to other level (am other place)and he in jubiliation asked her whether she would like to work with him directly which thorougly means handling greater jobs..Its been some time her superboss has gone and didn't call her up.But that didn't effect her working.Now, her boss is the superboss also and can take all the crucial decisions himself..

this guy is working in company for past many years and has been the favorite of the superboss.Offlate there had been few differences between her and the boss..it was quite obvious that he didn't used to like her presence,but to so much extent that he would ask her to leave the company,that nobody expected..Although he has no good valid reason to do so but he is capable of making them if required.In all, he has justified it to organizational needs.
now the problem she is facing is -

what she should do?it is well evident that it isn't linked with her performance in any case as she has been rated well!!

she didn't get time in past 1 year to look here and there and was confident of spending atleast 3-4 yrs here as learning.But this sudden surprise has not left her conscious of thinking as what to do?

there are few blondes in the company happily enjoying their stay, that has also offended her the most and she thinks if it is the only way to success in real world.(DN'T BE ETHICAL, TALK PRACTICAL)

On my suggestion, she spoke to her superboss who has been oblivion during the whole scene which is hard to believe,but he has not responded back..people say that there have been gr88 brains behind this...


Finding a job in equally good MNC in such a short span is hard , also everyone she is talking to, is giving her plenty of advice but no solutions..people whom she used to trust have not responded to her mails n calls.

She is losing her faith and confidence in her capabilities as it was her career initial and after suffering from this sudden setback, its difficult to find a way out!!

OK, i would like you people to think as what all she can do to safeguard her career as of now...

As she needs an URGENT "practical" ADVICE, pour in your COMMENTS within 2- DAYS ..

I will keep on adding info if required as its hard to write the complete story word by word..

This calls for simple logic and many working professionals must've gone through a similar experience.

Solutions : Get to the super super boss. Its not that difficult in todays times of linkedin.com and other social / business networks. Convince him on the loss company would face on loosing out a super achiever like her.

Talk to the boss, butter him while still keeping her options open by talking to peers and superiors

Leverage her contacts to seek opportunities outside of the company.

but the prob is not that much logical... all the peers n bosses till top inspite of knowing her calibre wouldn't like to come upfrnt for it, i mean when i said lot many gr88 brains behind it.. you cannot challenge even the involvement of super boss in it..talking to boss is of no help, she did that...yaa. She is not the only one, lot many other people have been targeted in different places like that but she is struggling all the more as she is just in begining of her career!!!she is also looking fr external oppurtunity but what am really finding hard is that how she can get something concrete to atleast prove her hardwork done.. because as far as boss is concerned, he can go to any extent to do the damage, also backchecks are mandatory these days!!
 
It the bosses were happy with her work, then they must've applauded it in official emails complementing her on the great job done.

Use that as references to prove her capabilities to top management.. if that doesn't help, a strong competitor would be more than willing to poach her ;)
 
we already tried that all but there are mostly verbal accolades... all i am persuading her is to start afresh... as she doesn't belong to a very financially stable family... being a significant earner in the family,this all has come as a sudden blow to her cofidence..Also am curious to know as is there a way of getting recommedation letter from the super boss which may be a solution..

Hello Anu,

Your friend at this point in time, is really undermining her abilities and simply loosing hopes is evident from your discussion.

I would suggest her to takeup watever opportunity at hand rightnow(be it a mid-sized company) and as you said she is very talented and has the calibre for doing biger things in organization, then I'm sure she'll climb up to bigger levels very quickly.

Its just that she has to compromise with the fame which working in any MNC of bluechip one's could have brought her. But beleive me wat counts is what u r willing to learn and take from the place. Many a times small time businesses teaches u things which a u would never learn otherwise.

its just a phase in her life...panicking wont work....this phase will leave her learnt many things...
