The unbelievable Peter Doherty, Carl Barât, Gary Powell and John Hassall made their Main Stage make a big appearance in 2003 and returned in 2004.

The band cleared the packs out in 2010 when they broadly rejoined at the celebration and now, shockingly, they will beat the bill at Reading and Leeds celebrations.

With their hotly anticipated new record underway, their set will without a doubt be one of the pivotal occasions of both Reading and Leeds 2015.

Doherty, who performed at Guildford's Boileroom in 2013, said: "I've quite recently woken up and I can't quit pondering playing at Reading and Leeds."

Hassall added: "Truly eager to be playing Reading and Leeds not long from now. "There is an extraordinary vibe in the band and we ought to be doing some new melodies as well.

"So it'll be the best Reading and Leeds ever."

More than 50 different demonstrations - on Tuesday night - were likewise declared to play at the current year's celebration including The Maccabees, Limp Bizkit, Azealia Banks, All Time Low, Bring Me the Horizon, Django, The Wombats, Frank Turner, Everything, Camo & Krooked and New Found Glory.

Celebration manager Melvin Benn said: "What a band to declare as our third main event.

"The Libertines are a piece of the Reading and Leeds family and I can hardly wait for the young men to stroll on to our Main Stages in their legitimate spot at the highest point of the bill.

"I'm eager to declare more than 50 other remarkably gifted acts today who will bring stunning exhibitions for our fans. I truly think we've got a definitive line-up not long from now.

"It's pretty much precisely six months to the Festivals and I as of now can hardly wait until August Bank Holiday weekend.
