quality of work life

The quality of work life in India is Poor. Mostly because we are still developing as an industrial giant. The other reason is the population. Companies know that if a employee is unhappy due to the work conditions and leaves then they will find a new one there. What companies fail to realize is that such an high attrition rate is very bad for the company as most of the time is spent in training and development of the new employee. There is no progress at all. It is important in todays corporate world to develop a skill that is of great value not only to the company but also to yourself. The skill should be a value add- something more than what is required of you. This way the company sees you as an asset and will always make sure to keep you happy.
 
Do you think that our job culture is not good?? Where are the HR guys?? Common debate...

To some extent it is true while it is to some extent not so true.. It is really a good debatable topic..

Yes our job culture is not good because:
we work for atleast 12 hrs.. Some companies that came in my campus for recruitment are working for 15-16 hrs..
we work from mon - sat... where as in Switzerland, ppl work from mon - fri wherein also fri is half day..
we give less pay compared to others..

no our job culture is best because:
we care for our employees.. we dont have hire or fire rule which most of the countries in globe has..
tata group is known in the world for giving low payment but it has the highest retention ratio.. employees dont think of changing jobs for 20 yrs..
when we fire the employees we pay some amount as compensation...
in conflicts, we settle it by means of comprising and not by means of hierarchy which is quite often abroad...
we do take care of employee safety which is missing there..

Quality of work life is defined as da extent to which professional needs are met by personal needs n vice versa.. We al r human beings n hence it is neceassary dat our personal n professional lives r balanced bcoz unbalanced work life can lead to disastrous consequences... It is true dat quality of work life in India is poor as compared to da west..bt v cant jump to conclusions abt dat..Many Indian organisations r taking dis responsibility to ensure dat dere employees have gud quality of work life bcoz Human Resources r da main assets of an organization. Therefore, it is an uphill task 4 al companies, belonging to ne part of da world dat da professional needs of da employees r met by da personal needs...
 
And interesting thing is that the quality of life does NOT depend on GDP, but depends on income inequality within country
