McDonalds has been known for its successful advertising since it opened its doors in Des Plaines, Illinois in 1955. If you ask people on the street what the current advertising slogan for McDonalds is, nine out of ten people would respond, "We love to see you smile." McDonalds has become a part of our culture with their famous golden arches scattered throughout cities around the world. With the busy schedules people are undertaking today, McDonalds is a great resource for a fast, cheap, efficient meal. However, in recent years, several factors have contributed to McDonalds' sluggish growth rate, which leads to a drop in the stock prices and unhappy shareholders. The following items have contributed to the lack of growth.

* Increased Competition is a major problem McDonalds is currently facing. Not only are they forced to compete with other fast food giants such as Burger King and Wendy's, but they also have to compete with the new wave of nicer, sit down restaurants such as Olive Garden and TGI Fridays. As these restaurants begin to appear in places that compete for McDonalds' business, it is imperative that McDonalds finds a unique method to attract customers.
* Americans are becoming more health conscious and are shying away from fast food, which is known for being very fattening. Consumers are searching for healthier alternatives that are just as quick. In order for McDonalds to compete in the future, they must promote their healthier items.
* Quality service is another issue that has been driving customers away from McDonalds. In a recent consumer survey, people voted McDonalds' service the poorest of all fast food restaurants. McDonalds prides itself on its quality service; therefore this needs to be improved in order to retain customers.

While these recent problems have been driving customers away, it is important to note why McDonalds is the leader of the fast food industry. They are known for their world-famous french fries, hamburgers, milkshakes, and many other items. Their consistency goes unmatched and other fast food chains cannot compare to the number of restaurants (currently more than 28,000). In order to increase their sales, McDonalds needs to build on its existing strengths while adapting to an ever-changing society.

By now everyone is probably aware of McDonald's new ad campaign: "i'm lovin' it," which is really a contraction of the phrase "i am loving it," that happens to be an anagram for the phrase: "ailing vomit." Ah the irony.

Abandoning their last two shitty marketing campaigns, McDonald's no longer loves to see you smile, and instead, would love for us to cut the bullshit and buy a Big Mac (especially now since the company posted its first ever loss of $231 million last year). That is, if you happen to fit the demographic of their new marketing campaign. To quote Mike Roberts, president of McDonald's USA:

"Our 13,500 U.S. restaurants are uniting behind this new brand message and energy. We are focused on bringing the i'm lovin' it theme to life not only in our advertising but also for every customer who visits our restaurants. This world-class marketing strategy is the latest element of our overall plan to continue revitalizing McDonald's for our customers through compelling food choices, great service and restaurant operations, motivating value and exciting new restaurant decors."

Exciting new restaurant decors? I don't go to restaurants to eat decors, asshole. Who gives a shit about decors? How about focusing those efforts on making your food taste non-shitty for a change? No matter where you go in the world, you'll always find McDonald's serving up the same bland pig shit they serve everywhere else. Not to mention the only way you can enjoy the food is with a full bottle of Kaopectate

According to a McDonald's corporate press release:

"i'm lovin' it is a key part of McDonald's business strategy to connect with customers in highly relevant, culturally significant ways around the world."

Translation: the focus groups they used happen to listen to rap and hip-hop. In an effort to show that McDonald's is "down" with their customers, they bought off a few rap artists to pose with this goofy white guy and their dumbass mascot:

i need project on sales and promotion strategies of mc donalds...plz help

Hi everybody,i'm one of the new member of this site,i realy need your help about McDonalt's promotion strategy.
could you help me?
thanks

I need a project on Mc Donalds for Retail Promotions. The current marketing strategies. Also some suggestions on a new promotional strategy and a promotional calender and schedule. The details are ;-
Develop realistic promotional objectives for the retailer. These objectives should outline specific communication messages with measurable benchmarks. To propose the group's product, service, line, or department for the promotional project, providing a rationale and support for the choice.
Using the objectives, develop a promotional strategy designed to achieve these objectives. A plan to coordinate the strategies must be developed. This includes balancing the elements of the promotional mix, calendar (schedule) of each promotional activity, personnel involved in implementing the plan & their responsibilities.
