ACLens has the product selection, security features and prices to beat some of the other well-known online contact lens retailers. Their site could make the common online shopper feel overwhelmed and overloaded with clutter and information, however. They have been mentioned in Good Housekeeping and are a third-time winner of the Circle of Excellence award. We didn’t make this site a winner, but it did make it to one of the top spots in our online contact lens review.
Product Selection:
Large and massive are two words that could be used to describe this site’s product selection. ACLens carries a broad range of name brand contact lenses, such as Acuvue, Air Optix, Bausch & Lomb, Biomedics, Boston, Ciba Vision, Focus, Frequency, FreshLook, Proclear, Purevision and Softlens. They offer daily, weekly and monthly disposable and vial, toric, oxygen permeable, colored, tinted and bifocal. This mixture of inventory is sure to meet the needs of every type of contact lens wearer and is very similar in variety to the higher-rated sites.
This site also offers a vast selection of accessories, including reading glasses, sunglasses, swimming goggles, computer aides, protective eyewear, contact lens solutions and cases, eye drops and other eye treatments and handy tools to help insert and remove contact lenses.
Ease of Use:
We found this site to be cluttered and difficult to navigate. They use a lot of pictures of the different contact lens boxes. When used correctly, these graphics would be helpful, but the way ACLens has designed their site gives the homepage an intimidating and busy feel, which doesn’t create a sense of comfort for consumers. On the side menu, they list contact lens brands, lens types, lens manufacturers and accessories. The top menu gives consumers the option to search by popular brands or by contact lens name in a dropdown menu. Two columns on the right side of the homepage show images and prices of some of the more popular brands.
Once you sift through the text, extra graphics and jumbled homepage, you will find the ordering process to be easy. The site provides you with thorough step-by-step ordering instructions that will move all types of online shoppers through the process quickly. They also make prescription help available for people who aren’t sure how to read and process their prescription. This helps the consumers make sure the information they provide is accurate. One wrong input and your order could take weeks instead of days.

ACLens has created two pages to assist the consumer with their order: a FAQs section and a help page. Unlike some of the other online contact lens retailers, this site doesn’t consolidate their help or FAQ pages into easy-to-use sections with commonly asked questions. They have laid out the pages with headings and subheadings, but the consumer has to scroll down the page to see all the different commonly asked questions and helpful information. For example, the consumer has to scroll down to the middle of the page to get questions about tracking their order answered. This can get time consuming and frustrating because of the time and energy it takes to get assistance.
For those people who don’t want to filter through the lengthy FAQs section or help page, ACLens provides you with several options to contact them with any questions or concerns with your order or product. They list the customer service hours of operation along with a toll free phone, fax number and international phone number. Several email addresses are provided for customer service, sales and questions, marketing and their affiliate programs. The company's mailing address is also listed on that page for your convenience.

If ACLens does one thing well besides having a large product selection, it’s providing the consumer with a safe and secure website. They provide the consumer with a 30-day guarantee on all their products. When ordering anything online, it’s reassuring to deal with a company that stands behind their products and wants to take care of you. When a company takes these types of security measures, you can be sure the personal and financial information you give them will remain private.
