Prince George on his play date : In New Zealand![/b]
Prince George took his first major royal engagement in his stride - or crawl - this morning as he joined 10 other babies at a play date in New Zealand.
Wearing navy and ivory sailboat smocked dungarees by Rachel Riley, the eight-month-old made friends as he crawled about on the toy laden floor of the playgroup, organized by The Royal New Zealand Plunket Society at Government House in Wellington. George wore a 75 pound nautical outfit was paired with a cute little white shirt with a navy edge around the collar, soft navy pre-walking boots and matching socks. The future king, who is now the proud owner of his first teeth, looked comfortable in the embroidered cotton one-piece with turn-ups and an elasticized waist. And he showed off his latest skill as he shot across the room on his hands and knees, a full month earlier than his father did. Kate looked her usual elegant self in a black and white print Tory Burch dress with a fringe detail at the sleeves and hem, as she and William chatted to other parents about their shared experiences of bringing up babies. As William, 31, and Kate, 32, compared notes with other parents, it emerged that George, who has two bottom row front teeth, has another four or five coming through. He is also starting to make his first experiments in trying to pull himself up and walk and appeared to enjoy bouncing up and down, supported by his mum. Looking on protectively the doting mother occasionally wiped some dribble from George's chin, as William charmed other parents. George was particularly taken with one with a brightly colored toy with a metal frame and wooden moving balls. Several parents commented on the fact that the young prince was one of the bigger babies in the room
A gay couple and a single mother were also among the families chosen to reflect the diversity of New Zealand society and participants were from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. The Royal Family arrived in Wellington on Monday morning. Kate, William and George will be touring both New Zealand and Australia as part of the three-week tour.
