Presentation on Effective Communication

Description
Communication requires a sender, a message, and a recipient, although the receiver doesn't have to be present or aware of the sender's intent to communicate at the time of communication; thus communication can occur across vast distances in time and space.

Effective Communication

Communication……….
What is it?
Is it just sharing information between 2 or more people?

No……

Then What?

It is a successful transmission of information through a common system of
?Symbols ?Signs ?Behavior ?Speech ?Signals

Listen carefully to what people say
?Don't rush to make a comment or give advice. ?Listen for facts and emotions. ?What is the purpose and intent of the speaker? ?What do you think their goal is in sharing their information?

Compose your message carefully
• Consider your goals and the goals of the other person. • Is this the right time and place to deliver your message? • What will you gain as a reply? ………. Think of it. • Do you have a long-term relationship with this person? • Is the relationship important to you and could it be negatively impacted by your message?

If you make a mistake, admit it & do your best to recover from it……
- If you accept your mistakes it’s easy to resolve things and get back 'on track' to achieve positive results.

is more valuable than…….

At times emotions are so strong that it is difficult to say things in a constructive way.
• Allow the other person to know how you feel by letting him to judge your emotions. • Be gentle with yourself and others.

We tend to judge ourselves by our intentions and others by their behavior.

None of us is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes and we can all learn from experience.

? Learn to forgive yourself and others for mistakes ? Forgiveness is important to maintaining healthy relationships.
