PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (PIN)

The ATM card cannot be used unless the customer also inputs his Personal Identification Number (PIN). The PIN is a 4-digit number, which is known only to the customer. The PIN, therefore, confirms the identity of the customer. The customer is expected to commit to memory his PIN and use it whenever required.

When a customer wishes to transact at the ATM, he has to insert his ATM card, after which the machine will prompt him to enter his PIN. The PIN entered by a customer is verified and transactions permitted only if the PIN is correct.

CHANGING THE INITIAL PIN:
The initial PIN is supplied to the customer when the card is delivered to him in a PIN mailer. This PIN mailer is so designed that the number printed therein can be read only after tearing open the mailer. The customer should invariably be advised to change the initial PIN by using the option provided at the ATM.

NEED TO MAINTAIN SECRECY OF PIN:
The customer should be advised of the need to maintain the secrecy of his PIN. If at any time, he feels that the PIN has been inadvertently or otherwise divulged to anyone, he should be advised to change it immediately. The PIN may be changed as often as required. This is to prevent any misuse of the ATM card.

WRONG ENTRY OF PIN:
In case the PIN is entered wrongly thrice in succession, the ATM will not permit any more attempts during that day.
