The palm, botanical known as “PALMA” is described as princess of vegetable kingdom in the British Encyclopedia which lists over 2000 varieties of palm and out of which only 09 varieties are yielding sweet juice, popularly known as “Neera”. Among this 09 sugar yielding palms only 4 general varieties are found in India as given below: -
• COCONUT PALM
• DATE PALM
• PALMYRAH PALM
• SAGO PALM
