FROM GOD'S OWN COUNTRY: Police are keeping a close watch on the Fahd's Kerala kin.

The Kerala police conducted a raid in the early hours of Saturday at the home of the first wife and family of suspected Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Fahd's father.

Suspected al-Badr militants Fahd, 24, and 25-year-old Mohammed Ali Hussain, were nabbed in Mysore on Friday after a shootout.

The Karnataka police claimed the duo was on a mission to create terror in Bangalore and some other places in the state.

Fahd's father Abdullah Koya had migrated to Pakistan in 1971, but his first wife and her children still stay in this Kerala town. Fahd is born to Koya's second wife.

Around 20 police officials reached the house of Koya's first wife, Mariamm, at around 0130 hrs (IST) and were there for more than an hour. They took away some letters and a CD.

The house, situated near the Kappad beach, belongs to Mariamm and she stays there with her son Muhammed and his family.

The police team returned a second time Saturday morning and began another round of inspections.

Meanwhile, a police team from Mysore has also arrived here.

According to reports, Mariamm is believed to have told the police that both Koya and Fahd had arrived at her house around four months ago.

The police are keeping a close watch on the friends of Fahd and some of them are expected to be booked soon.

WHO IS FAHD?

Fahad, whose parents migrated to Karachi in 1971, was allegedly trained by the Pakistan-based Al-Badr militant. The ISI allegedly used him in its operations targeting important installations in the Indian hinterland, especially in the south. Fahad, who can speak Malayalam, got his visa stamped for Karanatka and Kolkata when he landed in Mumbai international airport in February, said police officials.

Jammu and Kashmir Police wants him in connection with several cases. A Master of Science in analytical chemistry, Fahad allegedly sent Rs 13 lakh through normal banking channels to Al-Badr militants in Jammu and Kashmir. His role in terrorist activities was substantiated by Al-Badr member Samir Ahmed Bhat, who was arrested in Pulwama district and to whom Fahad had handed over Rs 3 lakh. Fahad had applied for an Indian passport, ration card and other documents to back his claim of being an Indian.
