The Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management prepares the student for various careers in the
hospitality sectors. The program aims to:
1. Provide knowledge and critical awareness of the main ideas, principles, concepts and problem solving techniques
in hotel and restaurant management.
2. Fortify skills in the field of research, leadership, entrepreneurship and culinary arts.
3. Hone reportorial and communication skills specifically in the field of hotel and restaurant management/hospitality
management.
4. Provide competencies on accommodation management, food and beverage management and event management.

Course Description : This course deals with the identification of opportunities and market for hospitality/tourism ventures. Students follow the outline of a business
plan that includes technical, legal, marketing, and financial aspects of developing an enterprise.
Pre-requisite : Management 103 – Principles of Management, Finance 101 – Basic Finance and Accounting 104 – Fundamentals of Accounting
General Objectives : At the end of this course, the students are expected to:
Cognitive : Develop knowledge and skills towards a successful entrepreneurial endeavor.
Identify the tools and behavior associated with successful entrepreneurship.
Explain the broad impact of Entrepreneurship upon the economy.
Affective : Assess readiness for an entrepreneurial career by identifying their strengths, weaknesses, competencies, creativity, and other
behaviors associated to become a successful entrepreneur.
Increase awareness of different forms of business ownership, thereby, allowing them to choose the right form of organization in
putting up a new business.
Emulate the different attributes, qualities, and characteristics of successful entrepreneurs.
Psychomotor : Prepare a substantial research (business plan) not only as subject requirement but also a tool to become a successful entrepreneur in
the near future.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management prepares the student for various careers in the
hospitality sectors. The program aims to:
1. Provide knowledge and critical awareness of the main ideas, principles, concepts and problem solving techniques
in hotel and restaurant management.
2. Fortify skills in the field of research, leadership, entrepreneurship and culinary arts.
3. Hone reportorial and communication skills specifically in the field of hotel and restaurant management/hospitality
management.
4. Provide competencies on accommodation management, food and beverage management and event management.
5. Develop skills in the application of work related technology including information handling and skills for lifelong
learning.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES
The graduates of B.S. Hotel and Restaurant Management should be able to:
1. Manifest adequate knowledge of tourism and hospitality industry both in local and international context.
2. Exemplify awareness of cultural, social, environmental, technological and economic impacts of tourism.
3. Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills and high degree of service orientation.
4. Exhibit positive attitude and proper ethics in the multi-cultural workplace.
5. Demonstrate creative and innovative thinking in problem solving by formulating sound decisions.
6. Demonstrate competencies on food and lodging operations and management as well as entrepreneurial related
business activities.
7. Perform hospitality leadership and teamwork skills in creating customer oriented work environment.
8. Show awareness and responsiveness on relevant and emerging trends and issues in hospitality industry
9. Exhibit sense of consciousness for ethics in the delivery of tourism services.
10. Discuss the latest developments in the hospitality industry.
11. Communicate effectively using both English and Filipino orally and in writing.
12. Work effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
13. Exemplify professional, social, and ethical responsibility.
14. Preserve and promote “Filipino historical and cultural heritage.”
15. Perform the ASEAN Common Competency Standard required in housekeeping, front office, and food and beverage
service.

Course Description : This course deals with the identification of opportunities and market for hospitality/tourism ventures. Students follow the outline of a business
plan that includes technical, legal, marketing, and financial aspects of developing an enterprise.
Pre-requisite : Management 103 – Principles of Management, Finance 101 – Basic Finance and Accounting 104 – Fundamentals of Accounting
General Objectives : At the end of this course, the students are expected to:
Cognitive : Develop knowledge and skills towards a successful entrepreneurial endeavor.
Identify the tools and behavior associated with successful entrepreneurship.
Explain the broad impact of Entrepreneurship upon the economy.
Affective : Assess readiness for an entrepreneurial career by identifying their strengths, weaknesses, competencies, creativity, and other
behaviors associated to become a successful entrepreneur.
Increase awareness of different forms of business ownership, thereby, allowing them to choose the right form of organization in
putting up a new business.
Emulate the different attributes, qualities, and characteristics of successful entrepreneurs.
Psychomotor : Prepare a substantial research (business plan) not only as subject requirement but also a tool to become a successful entrepreneur in
the near future.
Make a personal entrepreneurial competencies instrument to assess their entrepreneurial qualifications.
Apply the theories learned in order to become a successful entrepreneur.
