The idea of organizational behavior points the attitudes and behavior of the individuals in the workplace. A model that identifies this subject is the cognitive dissonance theory. (Chow 2001, 45) This initially coined by Leon Festinger in the 50s to institute the on hand relationship of the essential psychological concepts such attitudes and behaviors. The model depends on the assumption that individuals seek consistency in relation to their attitudes and behavior so as they likewise attempt to combine the deviating attitudes and align it with their individual behaviors. It is an effort to emerge to a normal, a person who is reasonable and firm. Nevertheless, one way or the other, the present situation will find some discrepancies anchored on differences on behavior and attitudes natural of the person. (Bendick, Egan and Lofhjelm 2001, 10) Hence, the common person, upon understanding the same, will seek ways to correct them to follow what is deemed proper. The theory of cognitive dissonance is carried out by either doing some changes in the attitudes and behaviors of the person or by seeking ways to justify the same to get rid of the affirmed discrepancies.
